Sweden rules.
I left work early on Friday for the rehearsal. We met at the church at 5:30 and went through the motions a few times. I was paired up with a friend of Lori's, one of two Cheri's standing up in the wedding party. Had many a laugh with the groomsmen and regret initially pegging them as dorks. The rehersal dinner was at the country club Eric's parents belong to. Had a nice conversation with Jeremy but felt out of place at the same time. Anyway, had one of the best meals I've had in a long time (spinach salad with fruit and mango dressing, a huge plate of stir-fried vegetables on a bed of wild rice and cranberries and almonds, and a slab of ice cream cake roughly the size of my head for dessert). Eric handed out presents for the wedding party and I got a very nice, engraved playing card holder box type dealy. Very fitting and thoughtful.
Saturday started with breakfast at Eric's and then progressed to the church for photos before the ceremony. For some reason, Lori's brother, Lori's dad and Eric's dad were never in the room at the same time, so there was much chasing around to get the pictures done. The photographer was very nice and energetic and likely got some great shots, despite the drizzle. The ceremony was nice, but very old-fashioned. The first reading was essentially saying "Bitch, make me a turkey pot pie" and how it was a woman's destiny to become a bride for her husband. It was a reading from the book of Sirach, one none of us had even heard of before. Maybe they erased it out of Bibles because it sucked.
Did some more photos at the church and at Eric's dad's workplace (they've got an atrium inside) before hitting up Good Company for some food before going to the reception site. Service was pretty wonky and the room was rather cramped, but we had a nice time. I busted a few moves and no one got (physically) hurt.
Got home around 11:30 and was awoken to the phone at 1:30am. Marie, a volunteer for a sexual assult group got a call and she had to head to a local hospital. She didn't get back home until 6:30am. So, she slept while I watched The Simpsons and tried to be quiet. Had some dinner at Perkins and watched The Bourne Identity, which was pretty good.
Monday was a trip to see Super Size Me, which was fantastic. I was sad to see only about 10 other people in the theater, but laughed when someone boo'd Tommy Thompson during a clip of one of his press conferences (he used to be the governor of WI). Got some groceries and Marie got her voicemail fixed on her new phone before we headed home.
For a three-day weekend, it seemed to last only about 10 hours.
I also ordered Wet Hot American Summer, Clerks: TAS, and the first season of Futurama from http://www.deepdiscontdvd.com for something ridiculous like $45 and free shipping.
I managed to accidentially whack the top of my foot insanely hard on the bottom of the screen door on Sunday and have a nice, large bandage on my foot now.
