Sweden rules.

I left work early on Friday for the rehearsal. We met at the church at 5:30 and went through the motions a few times. I was paired up with a friend of Lori's, one of two Cheri's standing up in the wedding party. Had many a laugh with the groomsmen and regret initially pegging them as dorks. The rehersal dinner was at the country club Eric's parents belong to. Had a nice conversation with Jeremy but felt out of place at the same time. Anyway, had one of the best meals I've had in a long time (spinach salad with fruit and mango dressing, a huge plate of stir-fried vegetables on a bed of wild rice and cranberries and almonds, and a slab of ice cream cake roughly the size of my head for dessert). Eric handed out presents for the wedding party and I got a very nice, engraved playing card holder box type dealy. Very fitting and thoughtful.

Saturday started with breakfast at Eric's and then progressed to the church for photos before the ceremony. For some reason, Lori's brother, Lori's dad and Eric's dad were never in the room at the same time, so there was much chasing around to get the pictures done. The photographer was very nice and energetic and likely got some great shots, despite the drizzle. The ceremony was nice, but very old-fashioned. The first reading was essentially saying "Bitch, make me a turkey pot pie" and how it was a woman's destiny to become a bride for her husband. It was a reading from the book of Sirach, one none of us had even heard of before. Maybe they erased it out of Bibles because it sucked.

Did some more photos at the church and at Eric's dad's workplace (they've got an atrium inside) before hitting up Good Company for some food before going to the reception site. Service was pretty wonky and the room was rather cramped, but we had a nice time. I busted a few moves and no one got (physically) hurt.

Got home around 11:30 and was awoken to the phone at 1:30am. Marie, a volunteer for a sexual assult group got a call and she had to head to a local hospital. She didn't get back home until 6:30am. So, she slept while I watched The Simpsons and tried to be quiet. Had some dinner at Perkins and watched The Bourne Identity, which was pretty good.

Monday was a trip to see Super Size Me, which was fantastic. I was sad to see only about 10 other people in the theater, but laughed when someone boo'd Tommy Thompson during a clip of one of his press conferences (he used to be the governor of WI). Got some groceries and Marie got her voicemail fixed on her new phone before we headed home.

For a three-day weekend, it seemed to last only about 10 hours.

I also ordered Wet Hot American Summer, Clerks: TAS, and the first season of Futurama from http://www.deepdiscontdvd.com for something ridiculous like $45 and free shipping.

I managed to accidentially whack the top of my foot insanely hard on the bottom of the screen door on Sunday and have a nice, large bandage on my foot now.

"Yay!" for Marie's volunteer work! I tip my hat to her for going out on emotionally trying evidentiary exam calls and not even getting paid for it. If you don't mind me asking, what sexual assault service providing agency does she volunteer for?

She volunteers for Reach Counseling - not sure if they are statewide, but she 'works' for the Oshkosh office.

Marie is a volunteer coordinator's dream come true.

Seriously, it was pretty bad. I'm also dreading removing the bandage and the foot hairs that will come with it.

Actually, it turned out fine. Wouldn't have been my choice, but I'll admit it was nice not having to constantly button and unbutton the coat when standing up.

St. Mary's church in Menasha, 528 2nd Street. Not sure what the waiting list looks like.

I've never had tofurkey, but this weekend I delighted in a Linda McCartney frozen dinner (spicy peanut (fake) chicken with noodles).

That's probably in part because she works with volunteers, and knows how frustrating it is to try to count on unreliable ones.

Ooh, it was that kind of church was it?

I'm pretty sure Reach is a regional organization. I actually "know" (that is, have met at a training or two) Reach's UW -- Oshkosh campus advocate, Khadijia. Small world. (Well, not really ... we do live in the same state!).

HURT!

Yeah, no one may have been physically hurt by your dancing, but what about me? My girlfriend wants nothing to do with me after seeing your fly moves on the floor!

Fun times had by all! Even with people repeatedly attempting to blow cigar smoke in my face?

I seem to remember you groping me afterwards too. More people need to get married - it's the most action I've seen in a long time.

Yeah, I'm glad I avoided the cigars first hand, but I took in enough 2nd hand smoke to last me a long time.

Ok, very true, I was groping you most of the night. But can you blame me?

Well, I am not married, but I get enough action as it is right now. Any more and it may kill me.

Even being in the same state, I still find it cool :)
