Do you guys disagree on a lot of foods? Food is the only thing Don and I consistently disagree on. If he has to order for me, I ask him to order the thing he finds least appealing. It nearly always works out.

She likes the following things that repulse me: chocolate milk, mushrooms, olives, waffle cones, raisins

I like the folloiwng things that repulse her: kettle corn, onions (she'll eat them if they are chopped up, I love big thick raw slices), garlic bagels, lemon-flavored desserts

Do you each make your own meals when eating in or are there certain dishes you can fall back on?

We can eat together because there are a lot of foods that are customizable (e.g. veggie burgers), and there are some basics we have in common. However, the 4-for-all pizza from Pizza Hut has been a lifesaver.

Chocolate milk is so very amazingly gross and Don LOVES it. He eats it on cereal and puts it in his coffee.

I thought the Pizza Hut deal was really great for us non-meat eaters.

That's beyond disgusting! I love hot chocolate, but mixing it with milk is just wrong. Marie also loves mint chocolate chip ice cream, which makes the baby Jesus cry.

I like minty chocolatey ice cream, but I'm not a fan of chips in my ice cream. I like the mint oreo stuff though and thin mint milkshakes. I also like minty chocolatey coffee. Don and I keep separate ice creams though. He likes things like double chocolate brownie fudge with chocolate chips and chocolate mousse swirls. That's just too chocolatey for me.

Don recently started eating fish, so he's fascinated by the idea of fish (anchovies) on pizza. That's a crime against all things delicious, but he can sin on his own thanks to pizza hut.

He's also always trying to use cinnamon raisin English muffins for tuna salad sandwiches and stuff.

Marie gets the whole package of Thin Mints to herself. I see mint as a toothpaste ingredient, making the joining of it with chocolate potentially lethal.

I used to eat peanut butter spread on American cheese.

I don’t like peanut butter, which I realize makes me a communist. I just don’t like food that is basically pre-chewed by a machine. Applesauce grosses me out for the same reason. I’m a very neurotic person, and it carries over into my eating habits. The whole refusal to eat blue food is a perfect example.

I can respect your mint argument, and I feel that way about mints, the candy. If you are going to eat some sweet, delicious candy, why bother with something that tastes like toothpaste? In fact, the only time I like mint is in toothpaste or in combo with chocolate.

Are you against condiments or just regular food that's been processed?

I think I should write a book detailing people's food foibles - it's interesting as to what things people are vehemently against.

I am against neither condiments nor processed food as a whole. I just don't like the idea that a machine chewed up perfectly good peanuts or apples.

That book would be interesting. I'd buy it to read it, not just because you're my (lj) friend.
