Here's your hammer, boss
Oct. 7th, 2002 01:41 pmWell, we had some different plans for the weekend. Marie was sick, so we decided to stay home instead of attend her cousin's wedding. It would've been about a five hour drive (one way) and it was very relaxing to have a three day weekend. Friday I played the role of the good husband and took Marie's car to get the oil changed and rented some movies (Ameile, Monsters, Inc. and A Beautiful Mind). I thought all three were good and my dislike for Russell Crowe has subsided, at least temporarily.
I also went bike shopping, which was rather fun. I'm looking at a Trek Navigator 200 (http://www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2003/citybike/navigator200.jsp), which is pretty fun. I took it for a test spin in the back parking lot and surprisingly, stayed upright. I think it's been about 5 years since I've been on a bike and it felt odd. I might need a new bike seat, as the one I was on wasn't all that comfortable. Most likely will wait until spring to make a purchase.
Sunday we got together with our Little Brother for the game of LIFE and some Nintendo. It was nice, he's so polite and is starting to open up to us too. After dropping him off, I went to pick up Brian for some long overdue drumming time. We stumbled our way through the Blue Album and Pinkerton, as the CD player at the practice space had a habit of fucking with us. The song would start and we'd begin drumming along, only to have the player skip ahead 2 or 3 seconds, causing us to be off beat. This happened about 4 or 5 times per song. Not enough to make us throw it out the window, but still not good. Brian got a splitter for the output so when I bring our CD player next time, we can plug in two sets of headphones to it and drum along that way. My Great Big Headphones were made for this kinda stuff, so that should be a welcome change. Maybe I'll sound more like Tre Cool and less like Renee at the end of Mallrats. Yeah, maybe not.
Marie stopped by work today and gave me a kiss! She was meeting with another employee and stopped by to say hi. It really made my day.
Tonight will be the Packer game. Terry, Eric and possibly Lori will be in attendance. Should be fun and I'm glad I went to the Y this morning so I can sleep in tomorrow. I also need to follow up with people on the Interview Project, as I'm not sure who is still interested and I feel comfortable enough with the process to get the gears rolling.
And, how about some relationship advice? Marie and I have differing opinions when it comes to the sleeping arrangements. We have a king-sized bed, so plenty of room to manuever. However, I sleep much, much better when I have a fan on. Something about it being cold outside the covers and warm inside just tuckers me out. Marie always gets cold and would prefer to have the fan off. I throw off heat constantly and need to have an "outlet" for coolness, hence the fan set-up. Any ideas? It's not a big deal, I'd just like to find some happy medium. I've tried pointing the fan only at me so it doesn't hit Marie, but I think it just reflects off the wall and makes her cold anyway.
Also, my button for my pants came off while I was in the bathroom at work today. Luckily, they are my newer pants that have a hook for closure and I think the button is more for "show" (although, who is looking at my pants button and becoming impressed?), so my belt conveniently hides the lack of button. Sometimes when unfortunate things happen, it's really not that bad.
What do you eat when you raid the fridge at night?
I don't raid the fridge at night, but when it's snacking time I usually indulge in string cheese.
What is your secret guaranteed weeping film?
Anything by Pauly Shore guarantees tears.
If you could have plastic surgery, what would you have done?
I would remove almost all of my moles, if possible. I have a lot of them. They're ok, just not great.
Do you have a completely irrational fear?
I won't flush the toilet while I'm sitting on it. That's not rational, is it?
What is the little physical habit that gives away your insecure moments?
Blushing, most likely. Repeating things generally means I'm nervous, like saying the same thing but using slightly different words.
Do you know anyone famous?
I pressed the flesh with Lewis Black and got free stickers from Trever of face to face. Those don't count.
Describe your bed:
comfortable cloud
caressing my tired frame
alarm must perish
Spontaneous or plan?
I usually like to have a loose plan or "to do" list.
Who should play you in a movie about your life?
Jason Lee, because he's cooler than I ever will be.
Do you know how to play poker?
I *rule* at poker.
What do you carry with you at all times?
Pretty much just my wedding ring. I've stopped carrying around my keys and wallet, for ninja training.
How do you drive?
Considerately, and as a result, in the minority. I also say small prayers to keep my car running, which is pretty bad but I still do it.
What do you miss most about being little?
Having no responsibility and spending next to no time worrying.
Are you happy with your given name?
I don't care for my middle name, but at least it's unique. Brian seems to fit me pretty well. I've known some pretty admirable Brians.
What was the last song you were listening to?
Suffocate - Green Day
Have you ever been in a school play?
I was Hansel in 5th grade. I think this is the second survey asking about this and I said I would post the picture last time. I'll have to raid my parent's photo collection next time I'm home and live up to my promise.
Do you like yourself and believe in yourself?
For the most part, I believe in myself. It's been easier as I've gotten older (and a smidge wiser). But sometimes I find it hard to believe in much of anything, other than Marie and some close friends.
Have you ever done any illegal drugs?
I most certainly have not.
Do you think you're cute?
I tickle most people's gag reflex, if that's what you mean.
Do you consider yourself to be a nice person?
I'm nice to most everyone but the depth of my niceness could use some improvements.
