Friday was a quiet night. We thought a get together with Tim and Andrea was going to work out, but they weren’t able to stop by. So, CDs were burned and television was watched instead.

Saturday we got picked up by Terry and Danielle around 8:15 to head to Great America. Stopped in Milwaukee and picked up Danielle’s former roommate Nikki and made our way to Gurnee. Got some subs and had lunch on the lawn in front of a church (and narrowly avoided eternal damnation) before making our way in to pay for parking and tickets.

After being significantly gouged, we were ready for some fun. All told, we went on the Whizzer, the Viper (twice), American Eagle (thrice, once backwards and twice forwards), the carousel (twice), the Demon and saw the Imax “To Fly”. Terry and I made a plan beforehand that we couldn’t leave until the number of mullets we saw exceeded the numbered parking lot poll indicating where our car was located. I can proudly (in a dirty sort of way) say that the ape drapes (22) outnumbered our poll (14).

We left the park around 7:30 and stopped for dinner at Lewis Black’s health club, which it turned out not to be in my case, but the pancakes were still quite good. Dropped Nikki off in Milwaukee and made our way back home. Discussed the pros and cons of Terry and Danielle taking each other’s names or combining them. Somehow, Danielle Lilbertson-Gillge just doesn’t have a good ring to it. Back to the drawing board for them. Got in after 11:00 and collapsed into bed.

Sunday I burned another CD before heading to Eric’s for the Packer game. Terry joined us and Lori was there as well. The game was unfortunately terrible in the fact that the defense was supposed to be among the best and it looked like some mouthy second stringers who didn’t have the most basic grasp of the game. Methinks my 13-3 record was a little too optimistic, but hopefully it was the wake-up call they needed.

Stopped by my parent’s after the game and dropped off the CD burner for my dad, on vacation this week. The mood was .a little glum since my mom is working mandatory overtime and my dad has been putting in 14-hour days at work. I wanted to ask them if they thought this would be the lives they would be leading when they were younger, but I didn’t want to bring them down any more. They have a large house and nice things, but at what price? When we were younger, my parents were awesome at always having one of them home with Brad and me. My mom worked nights and we luckily avoided day care. It just seems even less likely with all of the “progress” we’ve achieved as a nation in the past 25 years. Marie and I will find a way to make it work; I’m just glad we’re able to handle living with less “stuff”.

Anyway, whatever.

This week is shaping up to be a busy one already. Tonight I’m being “honored” at the BBBS board meeting for my volunteer web design skillz, Tuesday I’m going out for dinner with Brian and check out his new apartment and Wednesday will be cribbage with Terry.

My newest comp CD that I made on Friday starts off with the theme from GI Joe. I sing along every time.

What.... (yes, i know; i often wonder the same thing)
1. What do you think of the way you look?: Other than looking gross naked, I’m pleased
2. What do you think about your attitude?: My attitude has a flux-capacitor as of late. I’m dreading (absolutely dreading) Wednesday and explaining to numerous co-workers why I don’t have red, white and blue on.
3. What do you think about life after death?: I’m not afraid of death, I just don’t want it to come too soon.
4. What do you think about karma?: i don't know. I’m a firm believer in karma, but most of the time people don’t recognize it when it occurs
5. What do you think about love?: 20 years of frustration, loneliness and sadness melt away quite nicely
6. What do you think about fate?: I think the best fate is the kind you create, but maybe I’m just trying to rhyme
7. What do you think about your self?: a fantastic answer was already here: a work in progress.
8. What do you tell yourself if times get hard?: Make the best of it and be glad it’s not any worse. It’s all about perspective
9. What would you give your life for?: A few choice people or causes
10. What do you think about your first love?: Confusing and wonderful. She was my first girlfriend, but probably not my first love though.
11. What do you think about the first person that loved you?: I’m guessing that would be the parental units, so I think they are pretty great. Appreciate comes with time.
12. What are you scared of?: the American public and Carrot Top. In that order.
13. What was the saddest moment of your life so far?: Realizing that my dad never knew his dad and feeling sorry for his dad in missing out on knowing a wonderful man. But maybe his absence turned my dad into who he is today…
14. What would life be without friends?: No one to feign laughter at my jokes? That would be pretty harrowing.
15. Without family?: I would miss out on learning a lot about my past, which I hope to do from my parents and grandparents in the near future.

*The Dream Side of You*
1.Do you dream a lot at night?: yes, but I don’t remember them all that often. I generally have a lot of different dreams
2.Do you dream in black and white, or color?: color, as best I can remember
3.Do you remember any of your dreams?: I report some of them here, but most evaporate before I can put them down on screen.
4.Where is your dream make out spot?: Someplace outside, a park maybe.
5.What is your dream kiss like?: Just like Marie kisses me
6.What is your dream job?: Misunderstood writer, although I hear that is a popular career goal
7.Where is your dream house?: Someplace with a big porch and lots of room for people to come over and stay for a while
8.Where is your dream vacation?: Back to Hills Lake, at the cottage that isn’t there anymore
9.Do you believe that your dreams are a gateway to your soul?: I think dreams are a direct result of what you ate before bed.

*Do you...*
1.Do you write in a journal or diary?: Only dumb people keep journals
2.Do you keep an organizer?: I have about 30 text files on a floppy disk that I keep a semi-ordered list of things to do on.
3.Do you believe in love at first sight?: I don’t think it exists. Boners and love are not synonymous
4.Do you believe that every person has one soul mate: I’d like to believe it
5. Do you believe in the traditional god? Most of the time. I go back and forth on the issue. I believe in “something” and 95% of the time, that is god.
6.Do you believe in everyone (even the beyond helpless)?: Sometimes, more than myself
7.Do you believe in having a good education?: Yes, but I should have done more while in school. My study habits aren’t the best and luckily I’ve been able to get by on looks.
8.Do you believe in horoscopes?: Not really
12.Do you like the person that sent you this/posted this?: Kayte is the best and her bear hat makes her even better. Meow!

*When you hear ___ you think of..*
1.Baseball: How much I abhor baseball
2.Jeff: Marie’s step dad or Jeff Bissing.
3.Dog: How much I want one
4.Warm apple pie: My grandmother
5.Socks: Stink
6.Fish: stink too
7.Nail: Diggs (ok, close enough)
8.Amanda: I just thought of Amaya, that ridiculously ridiculous castmate of the Hawaii Real World season.
9.Swimming: the Sea Hags that inhabit our pool
10.Bologna: Homer Simpson
11.Giant Eagle: not much
14.School: roll call

*Relationships*
1.girlfriend's name: I’d type it in, but Marie would find out
2.crush: I told you a million times already, Illeana Douglas!
4.things you like in the opposite sex: a kind heart and the ability to be themselves. The rest is just gravy.
5.when was your first kiss: I was in 6th grade and got kissed by Karter Thompson. She cornered me near the jungle gym. It was sloppy
7.the most romantic words anyone has said to you were: “…because I’m in love with you” – Marie. That just gave me goosebumps all over again
8.which is more important- personality or looks?: I think you know the answer to this question, but I just wanted to say I found out I have a pimple on my collarbone and it hurts like a mother when you bump into it. So please, watch where you are going for the next week.
9.first boyfriend/girlfriend: Her name was Erin and it was 8th grade. She had a lisp and she got made fun of for it by a lot of people, but she had sufficiently woo’ed me. She was my first kiss en francias and moved away at the end of the year. I remember crying on my paper route the day I heard the news.

Damn, I don't know what it is, but I can no longer handle many rides at amusement parks! I used to be able to handle riding them for hours. Heh :) Sounds like you had a lot of fun though! :)

Honestly, when we went on the whizzer (the "baby" coaster), I was a little nervous, but really the IMAX messed with my equilibrium more than anything. Everything else was fine and I got my share of "Wooooooooooooooooooo"ing in ;)
