I’m not all that funny.
Today feels like a good day, a day of possibilities. I could really go for a long vacation from working. Since high school, I’ve never had a summer or any significant time off. I’ve always been either in school or working or both. I could go for a month of just me time, to have the free time to explore the downtown or read in the park. Stupid sexy capitalism. Is 24 too young to take a sabbatical?
And a little story from the domesticity front…
Wednesday night I decided to make the coffee cake recipe I found over the weekend. I’m toiling away and just as I mix the liquid and dry ingredients for the “batter”, I notice that it’s incredibly soupy. I continue to mix the gritty liquid around in the bowl and review the dry ingredients. Flour – check, baking powder – check, sugar – check. The liquid ingredients were right as well, and I’m stumped. Marie comes into the kitchen from the back bedroom and notices the problem. She advises me to add more flour to thicken it up, a little at a time. I grab the flour container and am just about to start sifting some into the bowl when Marie stops me.
“Honey”
“Yeah?”
“That’s powdered sugar.”
The second batch of batter turned out much better and we enjoyed the coffee cake, which turned out quite well. Timing is everything. Marie’s got the brains of this operation, and proves it again and again.
The Packer game tonight should be average, I’m anxious to see how Terry Glenn plays. Should be a nice weekend in Eagle River, even if we can’t stop to see
reject.
I got my new lenses yesterday for my glasses. Since my change in prescription was so slight, I’m not noticing much of a difference. If only they had glasses for color-blindness, I’d be in heaven. I got 1 out of 12 correct on the chart during my eye exam.
Most likely more later.
