The weekend was pretty fantastic, in retrospect. On Friday Marie headed out to Wausau for the weekend and I proceeded to get to work. Had a chiropractor appointment, signed up for a new ISP, bought a CD, visited with my mom for a few hours, played with my niece, got lunch for my mom and myself, downloaded a load of songs and game demos, purchased father's day and birthday presents, burned said materials onto a CD, stopped for a few groceries and proceeded back home. Whew. Spent the rest of the night with laundry and also watching an old Road Rules marathon. Turns out, Chadwick was *always* a prick.
Saturday started with a trip to the Y, finishing up the laundry and playing on the computer until time for cards. Arrived around 4:00 and left around 2:30 Sunday morning. It was outstanding, as per usual. Highlight include stories of Jeremy killing a raccoon (on purpose), Terry walking in on his parents in his youth and Terry also asserting that 85% (that's right, 85%) of people our age (early to mid-20s) know the code to net 30 extra lives in Contra (and various other games by the same maker). I estimated it was around 15% (I believe Terry might have meant 85% of Americans our age or 85% of people in developed nations). I guess we'll never know.
Also had "incident" with neighbor morons who decided, at 1:00 in the morning, to start throwing beer bottles into the parking lot. Terry, with balls the size of large balls, addressed said morons and commanded them to sweep up the mess immediately. They drunkenly complied. Score one for home team.
Sunday involved a good deal of napping. Marie got home around 9:30 and my parents arrived just before noon to take us out to eat. They dropped us off and we watched a bit of TV before taking a three hour nap. I still don't like naps, but they are growing on me. I'm disoriented enough on a regular basis, I don't need a drool-covered cheek and crusted-over eyelids to boot.
Today was another trip to the Y (I was out of bed before 5:30!) and off to work. Having a day off can be a curse in a lot of ways, due to all of the crap that piles up. The next 6 weeks will most likely suck.
In an up note, Marie and I are Seattle bound in early August for our anniversary. Woo hoo! We were also considering Portland and Montana, but too expensive for airfare and Seattle seems to have quite a bit to do. Maybe I'll run into Irene there and get a picture for Brian.
In another up note, I found another position that I'm interested (and potentiall over-qualified for), right here in Oshkosh. Maybe things will be shaping up soon. But the issue of taking a new job and losing my vacation might not jive together too well. As always, timing is everything.
And finally, I played the role of bachelor quite well this weekend and for the first time ever, I ate a bowl of cereal while going to the bathroom. It was okay. My lifetime to do list just keeps getting shorter and shorter...
