Make me happy, for one moment
May. 31st, 2002 03:39 pmThere is something inherently evil about the dentist. I had my cleaning last night and while I had no cavities, I still got scraped on like an iced-over windshield for a good half-hour. Some would point to my lack of flossing, but I'd point right back with my middle finger. Flossing is like changing your oil every 3000 miles or not drinking from the carton. Good intentions, but not applicable to the real world. In any event, finding out I have no cavities is akin to finding
Spent the rest of the night cleaning the apartment for the forthcoming Invasion of the Cousins and finding myself surprisingly interested in the Colorado Spelling Bee Finals on ESPN2. Weird. I would've been out in round 2 for sure.
In other news, I'm thinking about http://mailops.com as an ad-free email solution. $60/year, but Marie and I could share it (5 addresses per account) and no less urges to have more things. Hmmm...
In head-related news, I think I've got a sinus infection. I did get a full (give or take) night's sleep for once, which was a welcome change. 100% by tomorrow Donna, I promise.
In heat-related news, I should have worn shorts to work. No air-conditioning (seemingly) and a very sunny day equals a sweaty hinder.
In work-related news, I've managed to get about 2 things done in the 4 hours I've been here.
In health-related news, I've got a chiropractor appointment at 4:00 today. My neck is still sore, but I think that'll just be a fact of life. Stupid stress. Probably the last appointment in a while as my back has been feeling much better.
In consumption-related news, I'm looking for a shirt. A poker-themed shirt that I can wear on Poker Days (the next one coming up in two weeks). Like a Hawaiian shirt, but with poker hands or something similar. I really want one, but haven't been able to find one. Searches on the internet yielded one match, but it was like $60. I saw one at Target about a year ago that would have been perfect, but it was a medium. I haven't been a medium since I was about 9 years old. Anyway (anyways?), if anyone out there has a good lead or store that might fulfill this unfulfilled desire of mine, please hook me up with the info. I'll split the winnings of my next hand with you.
Mike, your CD should be in the mail by Tuesday at the latest. Tara, I need your address (which I understand might take a while) to send out the remainder. When you get a chance, kick me an email.
Earlier this morning, my boss became a grandmother for the second time. Gillian is her name. She'll be heading out to the East Coast accordingly for a week. I think I'm going to make next week "Ass Kicking" week and get as much done as possible. Make up for lost times, indeed.
Reading Henry Rollins' "Smile, You're Travelling" on lunch and it's quite the motivator. Truthfully, he probably won't be remembered for greatness when he's gone, but he's by far the hardest working individual I've ever heard of. Seeing him in Madison last year was the highlight. Just fantastic.
Will someone please explain to me the meaning of "All your base belong to us"? Please?
