Evacuation?
Apr. 24th, 2002 02:39 pmWell, apparently there was a chemical spill about 90 minutes ago, 3 blocks from our apartment. So, I guess we're crashing at my parents house for the night and we'll see what happens. Damn nitric acid. In reading the local news website, I'm seeing that there was a similar accident in December of 2000 (before we lived there) around the same spot. I'm wishing we hadn't resigned our lease last week...
Calling the insurance agent left much to be desired. They're not sure if a hotel room will be included or not. The lady was quick to point out that the purpose of insurance was not to "go out and get hotel rooms since they'll be reimbersed". I was more referring to if we can't go back for a week, etc., not trying to get a free stay somewhere else. So, they're supposed to call me back and let me know. Glad that they were concerned about my well being over having to pay for a hotel bill (heaven forbid).
Everyone is stupider than me.
