Evacuation?

Well, apparently there was a chemical spill about 90 minutes ago, 3 blocks from our apartment. So, I guess we're crashing at my parents house for the night and we'll see what happens. Damn nitric acid. In reading the local news website, I'm seeing that there was a similar accident in December of 2000 (before we lived there) around the same spot. I'm wishing we hadn't resigned our lease last week...

Calling the insurance agent left much to be desired. They're not sure if a hotel room will be included or not. The lady was quick to point out that the purpose of insurance was not to "go out and get hotel rooms since they'll be reimbersed". I was more referring to if we can't go back for a week, etc., not trying to get a free stay somewhere else. So, they're supposed to call me back and let me know. Glad that they were concerned about my well being over having to pay for a hotel bill (heaven forbid).

Everyone is stupider than me.

Nitric Acid is what I spilled on my hand last year when I worked in the chemistry lab.
It boiled my skin and ate through the lab bench.
I should send you pictures of my scars. They're cool.

Owwie.

Yes, send me scar pictures.

"Why didn't your comment show up in my email?", Brian pondered aloud.

At least they're stupider instead of more intelligent. Comforting to know, right?

I never thought of it that way. Good call.

All clear for the spill, although there was a note on our bulletin board in the hall stating that we should throw out any food that was left out and washing our dishes probably would be a good idea. Not all that comforting.

Well..it's better than them saying you had to move out and burn all your things, right?

But then I could have claimed my Rembrandts on insurance and retired at 25!

I suppose this is for the best ;)

Maybe, but of course, maybe not. :)
