To all of the people who thought the commercials stating that drug users support terrorists was accurate, maybe it's time we look at who really supports the Middle East. The Middle East is a source of oil for America. Our president and vice-president have made millions in the oil industry and have ties to the Taliban. Our automakers want to increase our dependence on oil by not ncreasing regulations on fuel efficiency. Apparently, our government agrees by not passing legislation that would have required automobiles to get certain (reasonable) miles per gallon by 2015.

If our dependency on oil relates to a dependency on terrorism (or anti-Americanism or conflict in the Middle East), shouldn't reducing our oil consumption be seen as a 'patriotic' (and fashionable) thing to do? Bush strikes me as a hypocrite when he says "You are either with us or against us" when he clearly is fighting for both sides.

So, I'd argue that SUV owners do more to fund terrorism when they fill up at the pump than someone who smokes pot.

Terry informed me that within he week, he'll most likely be the proud owner of a Toyota Camry. Could it be that the 87 Buick is soon to be gone from my frame of reference? Brian, he and I took a drive to Exclusive Company so Terry could reward me with a CD for my stellar cribbage playing abilities. He got me Alkaline Trio's self titled disc, while I snagged Dismemberment Plan's "!" and Dashboard Confessional's "The Swiss Army Romance". I gave his car a hug when we got back to their apartment. It felt okay.

Terry also admitted he liked Michael Bolton. This frightens me to no end.

Back in high school (freshman year, I think) we had an Australian student (exchange or otherwise) come to a class and bring in vegamite, this paste-type spread that is usually eaten on cracker or bread, an Australian delicacy. The student asked Jeremy if he liked it, and since it tasted pretty bad, Jeremy said no. The student then asked Jeremy if he was a fag. I don't know why this memory just popped into my head, but it did.

The first time I saw that commercial was during Super Bowl with my "band friends" (how patronizing that sounds). We all laughed to no end because they are now somehow a primary target for the U.S. government because of their indirect terrorism support, then contained ourselves long enough yell about What a lame commercial it was and why wasn't it funny?!? Aren't Super Bowl commercials supposed to by FUNNY!?!

I don't think Super Bowl commercials have been funny for a long time.

B--

I have just realized that the entire basis of our friendship revolves around food (a most specific food actually) and whether or not you are going to decapitate my pretty little melon.

Sad.

I'd argue it revolves around food and height. Decapitation is a running sub-plot.

Not much better, but it's a start.

So, do you wanna talk politics, sports, current events, philosphy, the meaning of life or popular culture?

In no particular order...

God lives in each of us, in some way.

I'd rather be spiritual than religious.

Organized religion probably does more harm than good.

A greater power does exist.

God makes bad things happen so we can appreciate the good things, and vice versa.
