I just found out that the founder of Wendy’s died last night. He was 69 and had a quadruple bypass operation in 1996. Having worked for Wendy’s for 2 years, it seems weird to me that someone who’s picture I looked at damn near every day (he was on cups, bags, promotional items, etc.) is dead. Then again, when your business is making people fatter, maybe there is a certain justice in his passing. I don’t think I’ll ever look at a frosty the same way again.

Last night was rather relaxing. Got a bunch of groceries and thought that I lost my keys in the grocery store. I was making my way to the check out line and reached for my keys (so as to use my keycard for Extra Savings) and couldn’t find them. I was wearing a rarely-worn winter coat with too many pockets and it ended up being in an extra pocket. Nothing like your heart sinking to your stomach when you think you lost your keys.

Loaded up the car and headed to Target to get some domestic supplies (cough syrup, laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent) and then headed home. Watched some of the MNF game and worked out on the Gazelle.

I’m about 3/4ths of the way through Culture Jam, which is very good. I think the author makes some good ideas but putting them into practice is a different story. I highly recommend the read just the same, check it out if you can.

I think tonight Marie and I are going out to eat with Shreya and Brian. Shreya is in Madison looking for a place to live for next year and I think Brian is the only other person around, with Terry and Eric out of town.

Random thoughts of the day
I’d like to get some information about growing my own food. We don’t have the capacity for a garden right now, but I’d love to give it a try.

“Home Movies” has gone to a non-Squigglevision format and it’s just not right.

“Working Assets” didn’t go under after all, so I applied and got accepted for a credit card through them. So long MBNA, you black-hearted piles of puke!

is going to as much stevie wonder as i can get my grubby little hands on. but also i've been told to purchase modeski, martin, and wood's "combustication" since i apparently love the dischord part of jazz more than anything else.

also i was shopping for a new book, so i'll check that out.

hey, we still have the actor version of dave thomas, right?

also: be very very very careful with credit cards. i have many friends that are deep in debt and i really really don't like the whole concept of credit at all. i can't stress this enough. still i understand wanting a good rating so as to get houses and cars and such later. just be very careful, but beware that a "good" credit rating from a credit card is often misleading. they like it when you accrue interest and pay way too much.

i could rant about the credit system and how money making more money is destructive but i think i've done it in my own journal and no one cared there either. =]

Yeah, the 'actor' was the real Dave Thomas. In the doughy, white flesh.

I don't think he made it into any of the training videos I watched.

I paid off my MBNA (read: evil) credit card last night and will cancel it before month's end. I applied for and should receive my Working Assets (read: percieved slightly less evil) credit card in a few days. I'm going to lower my credit limit to about $1000 or so (I think it's at $4000) to help the cause.

Money sucks. Thanks for the heads-up.
