Does it bother anyone else that Dubya wants to pull out of the anti-ballistic missile treaty and start a new arms race? I think I need to talk to
xjustinx about how life was in Canada and seriously consider moving there. I knew what flaming assholes politicians where before 9/11, the reactions are simply justifying my beliefs. How the hell am I supposed to sleep at night, knowing that MY country is committing such atrocieties across the globe without being held accountable. Friends, we are living in fucked up times.
The fact that the world is going to hell notwithstanding, things are going all right. I was in a crabby mood last night, but Marie tackled me on the bed and sang Billy Joel to me, which made me feel much better. That girl can always put a smile on my face.
Went out for supper and then grocery shopping last night. Came home and watched Kevin Smith’s “Roadside Attractions” on The Tonight Show. Not too bad but not all that funny either. I guess it’s going to be a reoccurring thing on the Tonight Show, so more wear and tear on the VCR. Well, not so much tear, more wear really.
Mad props to
mikecheck for hooking me up with a CD full of goodies. I must say, I’ve met some of the nicest people on LJ and on the Internet as well. My experiences have been relatively ogre-free, thankfully.
Speaking of which, it’s rather peculiar. Every once in a while I’ll get an email from someone who’s come across my website. I always respond to them but have yet to hear back from them in response to my email. Am I too intimidating? Too anxious? Too grammatically anal? Sorry to all those I scared away.
I get to go out to lunch with my co-worker Andrea today. She’s a hoot. It’s interesting to me because while we agree on roughly 95% of topics (most of those that I ranted upon), we are in direct opposition to the war. She thinks it’s the only thing to do while I think it’s the worst thing to do. The more I see of the war coverage, the more convinced that this will lead to the end of the world. I hate to think thoughts like that, but all it would take is a few well aimed missiles and we’d be done for. Anyway, we’re going to Arby’s. How’s that for a segway?
Tonight I’ll be going shopping for some Christmas presents and a brief stop at the library too. I’ve exhausted the Studs Terkel section (with the exception of his newest book) and want to find some books on consumerism/the American way of life. Also, I’ve got a project to start in response to an offer from Harper’s magazine, asking if I want a free trial issue. Adbusters to the rescue, more as this develops.
THIS makes me smile: http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=12047
Random thoughts of the day:
I’ll be scrounging the Sunday papers extra hard this weekend…
How the hell did the tradition of a Christmas Tree start anyway? Does anyone else find this a little weird?
Maybe it’s time to go back to school. Any smart-ass scholarships out there for grabs?
Anybody who wants me to write them a letter, send me your mailing address to my email address (brianmurton@yahoo.com). You get extra points if you can decipher my handwriting.
