I don't update this often because I think my life is the epitome of boring but yet, still feel compelled to do so.  It's always helpful in retrospect but feels a little silly in the moment.

Nevertheless.

I'm doing a lot better with my health goals in terms of activity.  I had a weird mental block at the gym regarding how much weight I could lift and have found that just pushing myself works.  I've gotten into a good habit of going three times a week whether I want to or not (and let's be honest, I never want to).  I'm also trying to walk at least two miles five or six times a week along with the 90 minute weekly doubles-league.

I still have the diet of a wealthy 14-year old, but am working on that too.

Speaking of tennis, I took an hour long lesson on Monday (we have off for Indigenous People's Day) and wanted to work on my serve.  Did you know there's more than one way to hold your tennis racket and different shots call for different grips?  Coach was super nice and helpful - it feels SO weird to try a different grip and motion for serving.  After serving 200 balls, my shoulder is really sore today so I hope some muscle memory was formed.

Things with Kimberly continue to be pretty good - it's clear that she's really busy these days with ceramics and getting together during the week is pretty challenging.  This weekend we've got it pegged to spend together (Nate will be with Marie), so will be nice to have some extended time that's just us.  I can't see myself with anyone else (and the little dating I did over the summer cemented that) so hopefully we can figure out how best to move forward and give the other person what they need.

Nate continues to be the easiest kid on the planet and a joy to be around.  Marie, Nate and I have breakfast together once a week before school and it's been pretty fun.  He usually has a question of the week for us (why did we go to college where we did?  do you have any funny stories about the cats?) which has lead to good discussion.

We're also talking about consent and body autonomy and all the things that the world so desperately needs while trying to avoid putting it all on his shoulders.  He's open to the discussion and I'd like to think he'd come to one of us with questions because we've made it normal to do so early on.

Work is a bit of a slog but I think that's how it's supposed to be.  Planning a trip to Cincinnati in a few weeks with my boss to visit a few clients.  Only a few days so just enough to get me ornery since I'm out of my routine and then I'll be home.

The new Metric and Murder By Death albums are quite good and I need to listen to the latest Alkaline Trio too.
