Well, last night was a bit busy for me and Marie, but fun as well. Marie and I bought some art supplies a while back and had left them at my parent’s house. Marie decided to ‘donate’ them to her employer (Big Brothers/Big Sisters) to give the matches more activities to do. I had told they guys that I would be over at 7:00 to play 2 Madden games with the rapidly descending 2-5 Seattle Seahawks. Marie also decided to take me out to eat to make up for a minor spat that we had the day before. Since the guys’ place is in between our place and my parent’s house (bear with me here) we decided to meet at the guys’ place and park my car there, take Marie’s car to Neenah to go out for supper, stop by my parent’s house to get the art supplies and briefly visit with my mom, and then hightail it back to Oshkosh to play my 2 games.
So, we dropped off my car and headed to Cy’s Bistro in Neenah. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is THE greatest place for Thai food. I usually go for the garlic or basil-seasoned dishes. Last night, I was feeling adventurous, so I got the Malaysian Curry Chicken served in a coconut milk sauce. It. Was. Out. Of. This. World. I seriously have never had a better meal. The coolest thing about Cy’s is that Cy himself comes out, greets everyone after they have started their meal and asks how everything is. I’m still gushing over the meal that I had 15 hours ago. It was that good. So Marie and I have decided to hire Cy ourselves where as one of us will work to pay his wages and the other one will work to pay our bills. Works for me.
After dinner, we headed to my parent’s house and visited with my mom a bit. Marie’s mom is thinking of a career change into Medical Transcription (which is what my mom does, basically typing up what the doctor’s dictate when seeing patients), so we talked about that for a bit. Her mom emailed my mom, but with my dad still switching things over to his new computer, I don’t think he can access his RoadRunner account. We said goodbye and then booked it to Oshkosh, making it back by 6:45 anyway.
Noah was playing his game, and got slapped by the Patriots (He’s the first year Houston Texans) 14-30. I played game one and lost a heartbreaker to the Bears 14-17. My second game was hosting the Rams (damn realignment) and let me tell you a little story about how terrible I am at Madden. A few seasons ago, I was the Coach/GM of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I had Shaun King for my QB and soon realized he was not the answer at signal-caller. After posting QB ratings of 2.0 and 1.0, I figured I could do no worse and proceeded to trade for Brad Johnson, which provided a slight upgrade. Fast forward to last night: In the first half of the game, Hassleback (my QB of the future, snicker snicker) was 2 of 13 for 12 yards and 2 interceptions. That, my friends, equaled a Quarterback Rating of 0.0. If you go 0 for 1 as a QB, your rating is 37.5. Do you see the predicament I’m in? Figuring I was out of the game anyway (it was 28-0 at the end of the first half), I put in Brock Huard (my 2nd stringer). He went 5 for 15 with 2 interceptions as well. Enter Tim Brown (the 3rd stringer). He threw a 92 yard TD strike to my 4th wide receiver and solidified the job from here on out. I lost the game 6-48 and am now a laughable 2-7 overall. I still have yet to face Tampa Bay, Indy, Jacksonville, Tennessee and the Cardinals twice (who have yet to win a game, but then again, they have yet to play me). I’m figuring a 3-13 season after a 10-6 run last year. What in the name of Mike McCormick is going on here?
Anyways, I headed home (not before Terry schooled me in cribbage and won 3 more games) and went to bed. Had an odd dream in which I was having sex with a black man. I chalk it up to too much sugar at work.
Well, I’ve got some work to do, so I’ll probably post more in a while.

Re:
Date: 2001-11-07 09:51 am (UTC)I give Holmgren 2 more years to turn it around ;) Shoulda never left GB (since Sherman is Coach/GM now, just what Holmgren wanted) but I think we have a great coach now.
I enjoy snickering.
