After work last night, I cruised home and had some supper with Marie. Tomato ravioli cheese soup and grilled cheese. Sadly, I live for dairy products. Afterwards I got ready to head over to the guys’ for my match-up against Terry (49ers). I went out to put our air conditioner cover back on the air conditioner, since we’re done with it for the year. No big whoop.

Headed over to they guys’ and got ready for the match up. A few things bounced my way during the first half, and I lead 17-7 after 30 game minutes. I returned the opening kick-off of the 2nd half 104 yards for a touchdown, but this game was far from over. A few key penalties against the 49ers and some good running by Shaun Alexander sealed the deal, with the final score 24-21. It was more the fact that I had 2 fumble recoveries and an interception without turning the ball over myself that did it for me. So I’m now 2-4 and have to face the 6-1 Lions (??) in my next game. Wish me luck.

After that, played some cribbage with Terry, and he took a 15-11 lead in our tournament. Better than half way to 50 and I’ve got some ground to make up. Watched stupid Jerome Bettis score two stupid touchdowns, thus meaning I lost my fantasy game against [livejournal.com profile] jonnyv. Note to self: Do not put Corey Dillon on the bench when he’s going to have 180+ yards and 3 touchdowns. Especially against the Lions. So I’m now 3-3-1 and a game or two from first place. If Peyton Manning would start kicking ass again, I’d have nothing to worry about.

Headed home around 10 or so and pretty much went right to sleep. Unfortunately, I have this weird unconscious habit of waking up in the middle of the night and thinking it is time to get up. Case in point: Last night I woke up around midnight, got out of bed and started getting clothes ready to go into the shower. I finally realized (after making it to the bathroom and just about pulling back the shower curtain) that it was the middle of the night and crawled back into bed. It happened again around 4:00 am, but I realized it before I got out of bed. It’s annoying and a little scary, but such is my life. Same went for anytime Kate would call me around midnight back when we both were in college, I’d wake up to the phone, answer it and respond with ‘No’ when she asked if she had woken me up. It took me about 5 minutes to realize that she did and that I really was asleep.

Anyway, did actually wake up in time for the seminar this morning on Violence in the Workplace. It was very worthwhile, despite the jokes about anthrax by the Wisconsin Attorney General. What a putz. But I did get a pretty thorough workbook about what to look for with workplace violence and things to safeguard the workplace. Since I work in HR, we’re usually the ones to be ‘under fire’ when someone comes to work to commit violence.

Made it into work by 10:00 and here I am. Would have been here sooner, but I had to stop for the duck crossing. Drove past South Park where the ducks love to just cross the street whenever the please. Funny thing is, they usually do so at the crosswalks, so it makes it easier to watch for them. Have I mentioned that I love ducks?
Not much else going on, planning on a quiet evening tonight with some phone calls to make and files to go through on the computer. No response yet from Best Buy in regards to my second letter involving the Scanner Fiasco, I’ll keep you posted, as always.

Random thoughts for the day:
If I poke someone in the eye with my penis, would it be considered a ‘biological weapon’? I’m serious!

Halloween is one of the weirdest holidays. A co-worker of mine told me that her father wouldn’t let her go trick-or-treating when she was younger since he equated it to begging. Never thought of it that way. Instead, they popped popcorn and watched movies. What a good idea.

I think that most people that use freedom as a defense of their actions are simply trying to be assholes.

I shudder to think that we live in a world where harming other people is profitable.
