Friday
After leaving work with a bad headache, I headed home. Went with Marie to get a large amount of groceries (double what we usually spend) and my head was feeling better by the time we got home. I think I just needed to walk around a bit, but spending time with Marie always puts me in a good mood.

We made a frozen pizza for dinner and watched Meet Joe Black. Quite a long movie (3 hours) but enjoyable to both of us. Spent some time reading as well, but all in all, a pretty quiet night.

Saturday
Saturday morning found me waking up early and being pretty ready for a busy day. Got ready and called the theaters to see when K-PAX was playing. Decided on the 12:55 show and planned our other errands for the day. Went to the library to drop off some books and get some new ones. I’m about 1/3rd of the way through Slaughterhouse-5, but had to renew it.

After that, went to the Salvation Army to drop off some clothes and items. Stopped by Subway for some lunch (they have pretty great veggie patty sandwiches, generously slathered with honey mustard). We then stopped by the bank so I could get some cash and then off to K-Mart. We’re in search of some sort of exercise equipment but were a little disappointed over their lack of selection. After that we stopped by Sears, which is right near the theater, to see what they had, but were equally let down. We headed over to the theater to get our tickets.

K-PAX was a very enjoyable movie (admittedly, I’ll see anything with Kevin Spacey in it) and I really liked the way it was portrayed. I highly recommend it. A coupla thumbs up.

Editor’s note to the fucking moron who decided to bring a 3-year old to K-PAX:

Dear fucking moron,

You are a fucking moron. Bringing a 3-year old to a movie (despite it’s PG-13 rating) is a mistake. It would be less annoying to talk on a cell phone during the entire show and periodically run over to me and stomp on my feet. When she wasn’t talking loudly to her, you were talking loudly right back. When she wasn’t fidgeting in her seat, she was loudly scarfing down popcorn.

In summary, you are a fucking moron and an inconsiderate ninny-shit head. Please exercise more concern and care for your fellow movie-goers in the future.

Anyway, after the movie we went to Shopko, Target and Play It Again Sports and found little to be impressed about. I guess we’ll have to look at a specialty store in Oshkosh to lose our excess poundage.

Spent the rest of the day reading and watching television, happy that we would be gaining an hour of sleep on Sunday.

Sunday
Well, the extra hour of sleep really made things different. Was wide awake early and did a lot of reading. Picked up 5 back issues of Utne Reader and plowed through them. Planned on having garlic mashed potatoes for lunch, so started the preparations on them early. The recipe called for 2 cloves of garlic, but I was feeling rather moronic and used two bulbs of garlic. Suffice it to say, it was pretty much inedible and I almost had tears coming of my eyes. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

In the afternoon, Marie had a bowling outing to attend to with her Little Sister, so I happily watched lots of football and laid around. Marie came back a little after 3 and we played some more Rummy 5,000,000. I broke the 10,000 point barrier (with Marie hovering around the 9,800 amount) and feel that it’s only a matter of time before she catches up to me and beats me. But I vow to hold onto the glory as long as I can.

Had some supper and then went over to the guys’ for some Madden. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Seattle Seahawks finally won a game. Yes, the 48-14 spanking of the Houston Texans was a thing of glory. Then again, blitzing 50% of the time against a team with an offensive line that is more laughable than Lewis Black should yield positive results.

Played some cribbage against Terry (he now holds the slight edge 10-9) and called it a night. Fell asleep right away when I got home, which was nice for a change.

Monday
Which brings us back to doe. Had a quick morning today, with a blood donation appointment at 10:20. With my history of donating plasma weekly for about a year, giving blood is no biggie. I always find the workers to be pleasant and chatty, which is nice. Rolling up my sleeves for that long also makes me realize how pathetically small my arms are. Luckily, I looked through the flyers yesterday and saw that a sporting goods store in Appleton was having a pretty nice sale. Will have to check them out soon.

Random thoughts for the day:
How come common sense isn’t?

The downfall of the Minnesota Vikings is more wonderful than I could have imagined. Sure, they beat the Packers in Minnesota, but they always do that. The fact that they are 3-4 makes me smile.

The downfall of the Jacksonville Jaguars is getting on my nerves. Put the nail in the Coughlin and fire your lame coach/GM and find someone who can a) not act like an asshole to the players and b) put decent personnel on the field.

Eat now.
