I got a cookie bouquet in the mail today, in recognition for receiving my PHR designation last week. While delicious, some cold hard cash would've been nicer. My local boss still hasn't acknowledged my achievement, despite being told about it from my HR boss. Thanks, chief.

Every year, my aunt and uncle host Christmas and prepare enough food for roughly 100 people, despite only having 30 attendees. She's also the one who complains how much work (and how expensive) it is to host Christmas. Um, yeah. Anyway, I called her this week to see what we could bring and we ended up having a really nice conversation about the holidays, my other somewhat-less crazy aunt and atheism. It's fulfilling to me to be able to have in-depth conversations with my relatives.

Marie and I exchanged presents last night. We put a rule on spending no more than $10 and having part of it be homemade. Since the only thing I'm really good at making is a mess, I searched for a recipe so delicious it would be fitting for my wife. And let's just say that the Cheesecake Factory's recipe for Pumpkin Cheesecake is the after-dinner equivalent of Spanish Fly. I got a framed saying (which I forget word-for-word) with the sentiment of "stick with me, the best is yet to come". Marie said it was a hint and that I'd get the rest of my presents later. I'm expecting sexy results.

It's relatively quiet at work today - I'm trying to avoid looking at the clock but it's not working too well. I've managed to write a to-do list for the holidays and start thinking about some resolutions for myself. Despite it being corny, I'm really hoping to make some positive changes for 2005.

I was sitting in on a meeting this morning and came up with an awesome invention idea - a condiment refrigerator. No one likes ice cold ketchup on their fries, but leaving it out at room temperature isn't safe either. This microwave-shaped device would keep your honey mustard and ranch dressing at a comfortable 50 degrees, much to the merriment of snackers everywhere. I'm gonna be rich!

What a coincidence! I made pumpkin cheesecake last night, too...

...and I think I hear it calling me.
