Stood in your room, and laughed out loud
Sep. 28th, 2001 11:48 amI had a pretty okay day at work yesterday. We are having Strategic Plan meetings in small groups to look at our Strategic Plan and see how each of us can support it or any problems we have with it. It wasn’t all that productive of a session in that most employees just bitched about the things that are wrong with their jobs or problems they are having, and not what can be done about it. I think we have a severe empowerment problem here and need to let employees make the changes to their jobs that will improve them, instead of subjecting them to the chain of command. Just my $0.02.
Anyway, after supper I headed to the Exclusive Company and got two new CDs. ALL’s Problematic and an Initial Records sampler disc. The ALL is pretty good, but I’m still lukewarm to the sampler disc. I don’t like bands that replace singing with screaming, but there are some songs I like on it. I have found that the Reach the Sky song is enjoyable, but should hate it since the lead singer of that band kicked xjustinx in the nuts this one time. I know, how rude!
After that I went to a local camera place to see what they had in point and shoots. Nothing too good in terms of competitor’s prices, but hey, I’d rather support local than go to a chain. Easier said than done. I found a few ones that were pretty nice, but am considering getting a SLR camera instead of a point and shoot. SLR stands for single lens and then some r-word that I can’t remember. Basically a step up in terms of quality and such, but then it would probably require me getting a few different lenses and such. Good thing Marie is a big smarty-pants when it comes to cameras and stuff. And so is Liz, so I’ve got some resources.
Anyway, after that it was time for Madden 2002 league, weeks 9 and 10. I (and the Seahawks) lost to the Redskins and Raiders in consecutive games, dropping my record to 6-3. Now, this isn’t a bad record, but considering Brian B. is also in my division as the chargers and is 8-0, I’m thinking my chances of getting past him in the playoffs is slim. Still, I think that my players will be better next year and ready to take it to the next level. It’s just funny how involved we all get with our teams and how the off-season/draft/free agency period is almost more fun than the games themselves.
I got home after 10, just as Marie was about to go to bed and couldn’t fall asleep for a good hour. Just lying in bed and thinking about stuff. I do that so often and wish I could just turn that part of my head off.
Hang in there, Savannah.
