Sunday, I watched that cat program again on PBS and cried again!

Also, my journal turned three years old yesterday.

Did it make you all sentimental for your own cats?

Yeah, that and anytime I think about animals in shelters or animal cruelty, it really bothers me.

Nothing (besides frogs) makes me as upset as thinking of an animal being hurt or neglected. It makes me cry for days.

Volunteering at an animal shelter helped me get over the caged animal bit though. I worked at a no-kill shelter (otherwise I couldn't have handled it) where people would go to any extreme to save an animal's life and make them happy. It was inspiring to watch. I did end up with 8 cats in a 2 bedroom apartment for a while though.

Yes and yes. Just not frogs because I'm phobic.

My general reasoning is that most stories that involve animal suffering also involve a human that is to blame for that suffering. But, in reality, it's a much less logical issue for me. I've met maybe 2 animals (excluding frogs again) in my life that have sucked. The number of sucky people I've met is much greater.

I agree, but could include kids in this example as well.

Kids definitely rank up there. Animals still take the cake, because they can't communicate with us, and they are less likely to become sucky people when they grow up.
