I'm all set for my piano recital!
May. 27th, 2004 12:03 pmLast night was dinner with Joy and Julie at Luna's, an newer Italian place. The sign on the piano near the entrance informed us that it was a "No tank tops, no caps, no cell phones" sorta place, which I think is good. Julie came right from work, so she had her nurse scrubs on with a sweater on top. Joy broke her wrist on Monday, so she was wearing a baseball cap because she couldn't do her hair. Marie and I came from work, so we were essentially business casual. I'm sure we were quite the site.
The waiter was a bit snooty, perhaps in response to our mish-mash of dress code violations. I ordered stuffed shells and was greeted with a plate containing five shells, stuffed with cheese. Marie had a mountain of gnocchi to eat through, Joy had five of the largest (grilled-cheese sandwich sized) ravioli's I've ever seen, and Julie had a heaping plate of mostocolli. Perhaps it's my Midwest roots, but I've always equated price and portion size. The food was good, but not enough. Marie shared with me, because she's good like that.
Afterwards, I went to pick up my tux for Eric's wedding this weekend. Everything fit, but the jacket wouldn't close. I told the clerk and she said that the style Eric picked wasn't meant to close. It had buttons and everything. I found this quite odd and phoned Eric when I got home to confirm. The following conversation ensued:
Me: "I just got back from getting the tux. I just wanted to make sure that I got the right jacket style - apparently they aren't suppoesd to close. Do you remember if that's what you ordered?"
Eric: :15 seconds of silence: "I don't remember what we ordered. Hmmm."
Me: "I thought it looked fine, but I've just never heard of that style before."
Eric: "Did they have other jacket styles that *did* close available?"
Yeah. Anyway, after we hung up he was planning on calling them to confirm. My only concern is we will look odd in pictures with everyone's jacket's open. Anyway, my vest is periwinkle and the coat has tails, so I'll try not to pick up too many STDs at the reception. Photos (of the tux, not the open sores) will be posted at a later date.
Marie is initiating our transition to an all-wireless lifestyle as I type this. I'm inheriting the land-line number and Marie's keeping her cell phone number (as she uses it a lot for her job(s)). I predict in a few short months, I'll be irritated as fuck with this new arrangement, but I'm willing to compromise to save some money.
I think I saved a marketing person's job at work today by bringing something to my boss's attention. The lack of communication between upper management here is likely no different than any other workplace, but it's still a little unsettling.

Date: 2004-05-27 11:18 am (UTC)I use AT&T, and besides one minor SNAFU, I've had no customer service problems. I haven't had to call them since Cingular bought them out though. Who do you use?

Date: 2004-05-27 11:35 am (UTC)It'll be through AT&T, which has the best coverage network for the state (important for me and travel).
I'll be brave.

Statewide coverage (with the exception of the far, far north part of the state). It even spills into Chicago and part of Michigan, I think. Will need to study the map.
