Thank God It’s Monday? Well, not really. Looks to be shaping up to be a dreary day, one best suited for pulling the covers over one’s head and trying again the next day. But that would be the weak way out, right? Must. Forge. On.

Anyway, I had a really nice weekend. Friday night was the Happy Hour outing from my former co-workers at AAL. I worked there for two summers between my first two years of college. Mostly data entry work and some phone duties, but it was pretty much a breeze. First summer I worked there I spent a lot of time reading and emailing Marie. We had a boss who trusted us (and sat on a different floor than we did) and not enough work to keep 5 college students busy. It was pretty sweet. Anyway, the next summer was different, with our 5 person department expanded into about a 12 person department with managers and supervisors and stuff. That’s how I met most of the rest of the Happy Hour crew. We’ve stayed in touch by email. So I got to introduce Marie as ‘my wife’ for the first time, which was pretty cool. We stayed for about an hour or so, shooting the shit with the old gang. Afterwards we went out to eat at Mary’s, a diner not far from where my grandparents live. Good grub. They have the best coleslaw, it really hit the spot in my tummy that was, obviously, crying out for coleslaw. That night we watched Chocolat, which Marie rented earlier in the day. It was a really good movie, different and interesting.

Saturday we watched Man on the Moon, which Marie and I liked as well. I didn’t know much about Andy Kaufman and never watched Taxi, but Jim Carey did a great job (as much as I don’t really care for him). Then we were off to visit my parents (and my niece, they were babysitting for my brother and my sister-in-law). I call her Curly since she’s got a little bald spot on the back of her head. But only when my brother isn’t around.

From there we headed to Appleton to visit my grandparents and show them the wedding pictures and video. They were unable to make it, due to their declining health and the long distance for them, but they completely lit up when they got to see the service and reception on tape. Technology may be crap, but it sure touched the two of them on Saturday.

That night was pretty quiet and relaxing. I played some Diablo and did some reading. Tropic of Capricorn is a lot easier to get into than Tropic of Cancer was. I’m about 55 pages in and it’s pretty entertaining. Also going to start on a book I’m borrowing from Danielle, entitled “The Soul of a Citizen”, about activism and social change. How fitting.

Sunday was a rather lazy day, which was enjoyable. Went shopping and out to lunch with some friends, but other than that, it was video games and more reading. Good times, people. Monday morning came too soon, but it always does. I’m going to call to try and get my car in for a check-up either at the end of this week or next week. Time for the once over to make sure it’ll last me through another winter. Best thing about that car is the heating system kicks ass royally and is so nice in the winter time.

Random thoughts of the day:
I’m selling a CD on ebay, an EP that came with face to face’s “Ignorance Is Bliss” release. I ended up getting the special edition of the same title that has the 4 songs on the original EP and 4 additional rare tracks, so I’m parting with the original. I hope to unload some more CDs and books via eBay or donate them to the library for others to enjoy them. For my CDs, I think that eBay is a better place for them.

I ordered a video game called Fallout (and also Fallout 2, it comes bundled together), which should be coming tomorrow. I’m excited. Supposedly a modern day Diablo after a nuclear war or something. xjustinx was talking it up so I had to check it out. I figure, for $10, I can give it a shot.

I’m ready for the holidays, just not the chaos they bring with them.

Marie was instrumental in my defeating of Diablo II the first time, with a careful eye on my healing and mana status to tell me how close to death I was.

Not exactly a spectator sport, though.
