Today just disappeared
Feb. 12th, 2004 03:36 pmThanks to all who commented with book and movie suggestions. 95% of it was stuff I've never heard of, so we'll see how cultured the local Family Video and library are.
The greatest thing I've seen all month (you might need to refresh a few times. Or just go to http://www.nataliedee.com and click on yesterday's drawing.)
I share a birthday with the following (in May, not today):
Bono
Chris Berman
Rick Santorum
Mark David Chapman
Sid Vicious
Also, this could be great.
So last night, we got a knock on our door from Mike (the cop who lives next door). Apparently, the people who live next door to both of us (think of a triangle. We live at the lower left point, Mike lives at the lower right point, and the neighbor lives at the top - we all share backyard space) is thinking of selling his house to a business (having his house torn down, rezoning the area for commercial property and selling it to a dentist office or something). We got a business card from a property broker with the words "Please Call" next to his office number. Mike also gave us the name of our alderman (what the hell does an alderman do? All I know is that my eighth grade history teacher became one) to voice our displeasure. This would make our property value go down (although, behind our house is also an apartment complex that brings down the value) and such. Our backyard is fenced in, so I'm not too concerned about privacy. But, the street that the neighbor's house is on has multiple commercially-zoned spaces (a few with empty office buildings on the property) available. Less sprawl is better than more sprawl.
I called the broker at 2:00 and left a message on his cell phone. If he left his card and encouraged us to call him, we must have a say in if this goes through. Or, maybe this is just punishment for never paying attention in civics class.
