I finished up my Christmas shopping today with a quick walk to the local music store during lunch. I looked out the window when I woke up this morning and was slightly disheartened to see a green lawn in the back. As I stepped out the front door from work to obtain a gift certificate for my brother, I was was indeed walking in a winter wonderland. Be careful what you wish for.

As I rounded the corner of Main Street I was greeted by a 7 or 8 year old girl, running and purposely sliding down the sidewalk. She skidded and wiped out a few feet from me. She confimed for me that she was okay without prompting and quickly pointed out to me the rest of the skid marks in the snow were, indeed, "hers". She skidded for me again on the street (near the curb) and I cautioned her to be careful.

"Ok, I will", she replied with a smile. She asked me where I was going and immediately stuck out her tongue to catch some snowflakes.

"To the music store, across the street."

"Oh. Ok. See you later!"

She scampered around the corner and I ventured forth to to finish my shopping.

I miss that youthful innocence.

Happy holidays, yo.

I wanna be a kid again! Geez, if I tried slipping on the snow like that now I'd be spending Christmas in the hospital.

Same here.

She was the best example of living in the moment I'd seen in a long time.
