Eye boogers
Aug. 30th, 2001 02:11 pmWhat is with eye boogers? Every morning I wake up and have these crusty, bagel crumb-like droppings in the corners of my eyes. Why do we have them and what purpose do they serve? Why won’t you answer me?
I had the unusual experience of driving home last night without my rear view mirror. I got into my car after work and saw it lying on the floor, figuring after 12 years the adhesive finally gave up. I never realized how much I relied on said mirror for my driving duties. I had to keep constantly looking over my shoulder instead of being able to look ahead and see behind me. I have to get my car into the mechanic’s place to get a check-up and have him take a look at my timing chains (as the mechanic that replaced my alternator over the 4th of July weekend advised me I do), etc. So I guess I’ll have them slap up the mirror while they are at it. Somehow I don’t think two-sided tape would do the job.
Prior to going to work yesterday, I had to stop by the grocery store to get a frozen dinner, as we were out of groceries. I came to the freezer section and saw another guy looking through the Hot Pockets selection with a puzzled look on his face. I had to resist the urge to yell out “Whadda ya gonna pick?” and grin like a moron. I got my wild rice with vegetables and made my way to work.
I have a feeling that I’m in a rut and I don’t know how to get out of it. I like my job but have become somewhat disenchanted as of late and I don’t know why. I’ll have to do some pontificating on this. I’ll keep you posted.
Tonight I get to help Eric and Terry move into their new place. They had almost as bad of a ‘moving into the new place’ experience as I did with typical landlord bullshit and all the problems with getting service switched over that come with it. Anyway, it shouldn’t be too bad, I think Eric and Terry are spending most of today getting stuff moved over, so I’ll help with the clean-up work and lend my trunk to help out.
I am going to meet up with Cody after work (I get out early on Thursdays) and then off to a haircut. Then some supper and aforementioned moving experience. I also got a call from Carrie last night, she’s back in the States after a jaunt to Australia for two weeks and will be hanging out with us later on tonight. She’s always got good stories to share.
This morning I dropped a razor blade down the bathroom sink. We’ve been asking our landlord for a stopper to the bathroom sink (it’s just an open drain at this point) since we moved in but to no avail. Better the razor blade than my wedding ring, but still I’m a little nervous about it. I think it’s good when things like that happen to me, because it reminds me that I’m still a fumbling nitwit most of the time.
Still waiting to get the mailing label to return my broken scanner, I called a week ago today and it should be here today. Technology is a hassle.
I’m almost done with the 3rd Harry Potter book. I’ve found this one to be the most confusing in terms of what it reveals about his past and how some of the characters fit in, but it’s still quite good.
I watched “The Princess Bride” over the weekend and, as much as Marie likes to deny it, the pirate ship we saw on our honeymoon was NOT the one from TPB, so it stands to reason that I was correct in identifying it as the pirate ship from The Goonies. Just thought you should know.
Random thoughts for the day:
I’m not feeling all that random today. Maybe tomorrow.

You are wrong...
IT WAS THE SHIP FROM THE PRINCESS BRIDE!
