Drawing conclusions is unamerican
Sep. 16th, 2003 11:09 amSo, I took a self-imposed break from LJ for a few weeks. No real reason other than to give it a rest. I missed it more than I thought I would and think it's a good outlet for me. Plus, it's about the only way I'll keep a journal.
Mitten the Wonder Kitten has been rather naughty lately, as she's started kicking litter from her litter box all over the bathroom and also enjoys retrieving dirty tissues from the garbage can, carryinies them around in her mouth and then shreds them for us to find later. If only she had good habits, like folding laundry or mowing the lawn. Perhaps we should've gotten a goat instead.
The Terry/Danielle Michigan visit is scheduled for October 10th - 13th. File under Hell, Yes.
Work has been pretty busy lately, as per usual. I get a sense that my counterpart in Milwaukee works harder than I do, but she's got harder employees to deal with.
Do you have any physical scars, and what's the story behind them? (Bonus points for extremely embarrassing stories!)
I have a cut on my upper lip from an ice-chunk throwing incident (with my face being the target) that required stitches. I also have two sizeable scars on my left arm from running at a glass door full speed when I was 6 or 7. I missed the handle and my arm went right through the door. I cannot imagine how terrified my mom was at the sight of me covered in blood.
First real memory of something: Wearing yellow Donkey Kong pajamas (with the feet in them) at our house on Hawes Street. I shared a bedroom with Brad upstairs. I also remember sitting in the stairway leading to the second floor recording songs off the radio onto a blank tape. I lived for Casey Cassem.
First car: Do I get bonus points if this is also my Current car? 1989 Buick LeSabre. Fighting the battles of time and a lack of intelligence by it's owner, this car has been with me since 1998.
First real kiss: Erin Mares in 8th grade. Luke Wilson's basement. He was going out with Renee at the time, who I pined over for a long time. It was dark and wet and magically foreign.
First break-up: Jeff. See above. She moved to another city after her mom got another job. I remember crying on my paper route that day.
First job: Said paper route around our neighborhood, inherieted from my brother. First non-afterschool job would be Wage Slave at Arby's, at the ripe age of 15.
First screen name: Greenday03 (via AOL)
First self purchased album: First CD was Bryan Adams - Waking up the Neighbors and Genesis - We Can't Dance. First cassette would have been something by either Billy Joel or Weird Al. First album would be a live Green Day concert in Italy that Brian saved for me when he worked at the Exclusive Company.
First funeral: My great-grandmother's 2 years ago.
First pets: I remember we had a rabbit at one point, but I was too young to remember. Carrots was our family beagle for 10 years or so.
First credit card: A card from MBNA. I later found out that they are a major contributer to the Republican party, so I dropped them and got a Working Assets card. Needless to say, when I received the letter to learn that Working Assets was going to be turning it's accounts over to MBNA, I wasn't happy.
First true love: Most likely Erin. Looking back now, it was little more than puppy love, but at the time it was pretty overwhelming.
First enemy: Some older kids in elementary school. One of them punched me in the face, out of the blue, for no reason. Playground supervision was NOT in full effect that day.
First big trip: Family trip to Florida in 1989. I puked on the plane from Milwaukee to Chicago.
First play/musical/performance: Hansel in the 5th grade production of Hansel and Gretel. I killed.
First musician you remember hearing in your house: Most likely my dad playing acoustic guitar. If you mean the other way, most likely Bruce Springsteen.
First broken bone and First fist fight: No broken bones and no fist fights to date.
First concert: Seeing Sting with my family at Summerfest in Milwaukee. My mom and brother were big fans. I tried to emulate those dancing around me and felt rather foolish.
