Driving home from work yesterday, I got bored with talk radio and decided to pop in a cassette. I've got 7 or 8 to pick from in my consule, most of the being unlabeled. The one I chose was a compilation tape from the mid-90s that I made. Elastica, Green Day, Blind Melon, Weezer, Veruca Salt - they were all in attendance. To my joy, I knew most of the words and could guess what song was coming up next. Driving home, screaming along to "Spin the Black Circle", ruled.

I've never considered myself a 'cat' person, since I've always seen cats as, well, useless. Dogs are loyal, friendly and great companions. Cats simply act annoyed at damn near everything. Such is not the case with Mitten the Kitten. We kept her in the guest room next to our bedroom for the night with both of our doors closed. She meowed for about 10 minutes and then was quiet all night. After I finished showering and getting dressed, I let her out. She hung close by me until I had to go to work, including eating my cereal, licking my bagel, walking around in the kitchen sink, sneaking behind the toaster oven, and headbutting my big toe as I was eating breakfast. She's very attention starved and seemingly fearful that we're going to abandon her. Marie will be spending some quality time with her today and I'm sure that she'll get more attention than she can handle at the party.

It is impossible to quietly eat a pear.

I'm hoping tonight will be a productive evening. I've got a slew of CDs to burn and not a lot of time to do so. Tim first turned me on to Bill Hicks and I'd like to return the favor with some live performances I've found. I can always mail them to him, but would be nice to give to him at the party. Also need to work on some compilation CDs for the f2f board and the next release of The Life of Brian. I also should take a serious look at what kind of car I want to get when the Buick needs to be put to sleep. I figure I've got another year, give or take, with the LeSabre, but I'd like to be prepared for the day when it runs no more. I know it'll be a Toyota, just not sure which one.

I've also decided to run for Governor in California. A good way to get my foot in the door.

New Thoughts

In case I don't get to IM you tonight. I have been turned on to some GREAT new music...
2 bands on Deep Elm records.
First band: "Red Animal War"
Second Band: "Slowride" (not the Foghat song)

Red Animal is like Jawbox... seriously. I have never heard a band emulate another so well. From the 2 songs that I could dl, I REALLY like them.

Seek them out!

Hot! I got two samplers from Deep Elm a while back and some of it was quite good. I'm in IL now for training, but will see if either band is on them. And I don't have to compromise my anti-Foghat stance? Even hotter!

Hope you're enjoying AZ and thanks for the tip...

It *is* impossible to eat a pear quietly. Or in any sort of dry, non dribbling way.
