Friday night I got the chance to see Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back with a bunch of friends. Terry turned out to live up to his Hot 'N Now namesake (Traitor) and not be able to make it. Combo was also missing in action. But, there were 10 of us there, so I felt I did my part to help the Kevin Smith cause.

Marie and I went to dinner with Jeremy, Kristie, Jenny and Matt beforehand at Player's, a local bar/restaurant. Got some pizza and had a nice chat about the pre-buzz of the movie. I was really excited to see the movie and thought it would be a good 'sendoff' for the fans as Kevin Smith focused on taking his career in a new direction.

Jeremy, Kristia, Jenny and Matt had already gotten their tickets earlier in the day, so Marie and I needed to get our tickets ahead of time. Being the fan boy that I am, I figured we should get there about 45 minutes early. What struck me as the oddest part of the evening was that the girl (we're talking like 16 years old) asked ME to see my ID before she would sell me tickets to the show. The fact that I'm 23 years old and needed to be "17 or older" to get into the movie struck me as pretty hilarious. So I showed my license and stifled my laughter as best I could.

In terms of the movie, I thought it was great. It was a tribute to the fans, it tied things together and it was funny. It's sad to see the end of an era, so to speak, but glad to be part of it just the same. In a way, I liken it to the Hot 'N Now experience. Good times, people. In terms of the movie itself, well, check this out:

From kidsinmind.com (on a scale of 1-10):
PROFANITY 10 - About 228 F-words (one is spelled out) and a few profane hand gestures, about 69 scatological terms, 73 anatomical references, 34 sexual references, 43 mild obscenities, 3 religious profanities, 16 religious exclamations, many derogatory references to homosexuals, African Americans and Caucasians, and other insults.

So maybe it was good that I was carded because anyone under the age limit for R movies shouldn't have seen it, but for crying out loud, I don't think I look like I'm 17. Still, it put Winger's "She's Only 17" in my head, which always puts a spring in my step.

So go see the movie if you are curious. If you found any of Smith's other 4 movies funny, you'll like this one.

I'm still sick so I'll post more on Monday. I got two Rollins spoken word CDs on Friday which have proven to be a good choice on my part.
