Glad it’s Friday
Aug. 24th, 2001 01:57 pmI guess that’s kinda redundant. I mean, who isn’t glad it’s Friday. Unless you’d have to work over the weekend or live in a place that doesn’t require such career allegiance as to need to work 40 hours a week. I’m none of the above, so woo hoo.
I got a copy of all the lottery tickets that were purchased (I put $5 in the kitty for tickets at work) and will be eagerly watching the news on Saturday night (well, I’ll probably tape it anyway). I don’t have any delusions about winning, but it would be rather cool to not have to worry about money for a while.
Today is going by much faster than yesterday, I’m stuffed up but my headache is mostly gone. I’m looking forward to taking it easy this weekend and hopefully banging out a new look website on the keyboard. Marie will be in Wausau, going to see Travis Tritt with her mom so I’ll have to find something to keep out of trouble.
So I called the eight hundred number to get my scanner replaced. Basically they send a mailing sticker (postage paid) to be put on the box when I send it back and then when they receive it, they issue me a credit so I can go and buy a new one. Why not just let me exchange it at the store, I asked the computer screen? No answer. Technology does NOT make life easier, it just creates more hassles, interruptions and false expectations.
My neck hurts and I need to go see the chiropractor soon. I’m going to go to the one Marie went to (Marie’s had back problems for a while and always feels better afterwards) but am nervous about having my head contorted into different positions. I know that my posture is pretty weak so that’s part of the problem, but it’s hard to be six foot six in this world.Never enough leg room, clothes are always too short, people constantly ask you if you play basketball (har har) and you’re always expected to get things off the top shelf. And, you always run into spiderwebs coming into your apartment through the patio door.
Anyway, will be interviewing lots of people in the near future as one more person put in their two week notice. Last year, there wasn’t such a mass exodus after AirVenture but I think we need to look at retention and see why so many people are hitting the road.
Random thoughts for the day:
I’m going to borrow my dad’s CD burner and make some CDs. One for a guy who is sending me rare face to face songs and I’m going to make a few compilation discs from some of my punk compilation discs and hopefully get rid of some of them. I feel better knowing it’s stuff I paid for but I did find a few songs on the Internet that I’ll be copying.
My ass is just a little bit too big for the pants I’m wearing.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back opens up tonight, so be good little boys and girls and go see it. Despite Jeb not being able to make it (no hard feelings, buddy) I’ll have 10 people in my entourage. Entourage is a cool word. Entourage, entourage, entourage. There. I feel better.
