I made it back in one piece, with a few life lessons taught to me.

First of all, karma is important but it doesn't always work. On the drive down, I paid for the car behind me at the toll booth (it was only 40 cents, but I thought a nice gesture). At the restaurant, I tipped 25%. So imagine my cosmic confusion when I encountered roommate problems. I arrived at 6:30pm and got checked in. I waited for him most of the night, expecting he would arrive at a reasonable hour. When he didn't (by 11:30pm), I figured he wasn't going to show or made other arrangements, and I locked the hotel door. The 1am phone call from the front desk didn't sit well with me. I get majorly freaked out when woken up by telephone and hotel telephones are notoriously loud and annoying. I couldn't calm down until almost 3am and just couldn't 'let it go' at what an inconvenience this guy was to me. A big part of the training was that everyone has their own values, thoughts, opinions and to assume that everyone thinks things the same way is a big mistake. So what was inconvenient to me might have been no big deal to him.

Secondly, I mis-judged someone else and realized the error of my ways quickly. There were about 20 of us at the training and I immediately noticed the guy wearing a medium blue shirt, khakis, white athletic socks and black dress shoes together. I am a self-admitted fashion ignoramius, but know just enough to avoid that combination of colors. A group of us went out for dinner Wednesday night and we ended up sitting next to each other. I can honestly say he's the most likeable person I've met in quite a long time. Friendly, engaging, honest - a real class act. Stupid me.

Thirdly, I was freaking out about the trip there and back since it was 3 1/2 hours away and I'd never been there before. Both trips went flawlessly (not counting Chicago traffic, but nothing is perfect) and I'm actually looking forward to going back in August.

Kate and Carrie A. will be shaking up with Marie and I tonight and then joining us for Andrea and Tim's wedding tomorrow. I'm beyond excited and think this will indeed be a rocking good time. I'm praying for no fists to fly between the families and good weather.

It felt so fucking good to go to sleep with Marie last night.
