Backalley corporate merger
May. 19th, 2003 04:59 pmAll staffing agency employees remind me of Duff Man. Oh yeah!
The weekend was good and bad and ugly. Friday I got home from Milwaukee and found out that my car (that Marie was using, since I haven't trusted my car to go long distances since the racoon-hitting incident a few weeks back) needed to have some work done and that it shouldn't be driven any length of time or distance without fear. Now, buying a house has put a large drain on the monetary supply and while we can afford a car payment now, it's about the last thing we were hoping for. So, I made arrangements with my parents to borrow their car for the weekend (since Marie was going to Wausau to visit her mom) and prayed that the repairs wouldn't be too costly.
Woke up early on Saturday to particpate in a charity walk for suicide prevention. It was two miles and a lot of fun. Lots of people brought their dogs, which made me quite jealous. We headed to Neenah to pick up mom's car and then parted ways. I loaded up my stuff, left a note and headed to see my grandparents for a visit. We haven't seen them since before my grandmother broke two bones in her back (osteoperosis has taken it's toll on her) and since my grandfather was diagnosed with diabetes. Grandma was sleeping when I came, but I had a nice long talk with my grandfather. He's so proud of me for my new job and the house and everything. I wish that I had spent more time with him when I was younger, but am glad that I can do so now. My grandma got up and came out into the living room and talked with us for a bit before I had to go. They told me about how since she hasn't been out of the house in 10 weeks (!), she hasn't been able to go to the hairdressers weekly to get her hair done. So last week, my grandfather washed my grandmothers hair for her, since it was bothering her so much. It was the sweetest gesture I've heard of in a long time and made me smile.
From there I went to Terry's for the bachelor party. Rather than go into great detail, here's a recap:
Visiting
Basketball
Lunch at mexican restaurant
Return for croquet
Play bocci ball
More basketball
Swear at each other and take advantage of sexual innunedos
Cards and more cards
Swear at each other some more and take advantage of sexual innunedos
Order pizza for dinner
Head to park for football and ultimate frisbee
Return for more cards
Play video games
Swear at each other and take advantage of sexual innunedos
Repeat last three until 3am
Go to bed
It was a fun time, but I had a feeling it was one of the last times all of us would get together for that. Not as if we are too old, but that our priorities are going to shift. Anyway, after getting packed up and leaving, I stopped by the Toyota dealerships in Appleton and Oshkosh to see how much a car would run me if need be. Found a few in Oshkosh but nothing outstanding. Spent the rest of the day watching TV and cleaning up a bit. The sleep deprevation was getting to me. Went back to Neenah to meet Marie there so I could drop off the car and get a ride back to Oshkosh. Got caught up with Marie and was in bed by 8:15. It was nice, but I'm very tired and sore today. My knee was pretty bad yesterday.
Found out a little while ago that my catalytic convertor broke off my car (?), hence the loud noises and general mishaps. They also need to replace the muffler. About $300 to fix, which is a lot less than I thought it would be.
Does anyone else find my entries as boring as I do? I like keeping tabs of what I do every day, but I imagine they are a chore to read every few days. Sorry 'bout that.
