Last night was totally fun. As mentioned before, one of the three bridges in Oshkosh is closed for a few weeks. It took me 15 minutes to travel the equivalent of three city blocks due to the traffic. I’m going to try and stay a little bit later today and see if that helps.

Anyway, I got home and busted out some supper that was done in time for when Marie got home. It was spinach and mushroom pizza. The mushroom pieces were stuck to the pizza so I couldn’t remove them from my pieces beforehand. Ow, the woes of life.

I got my stuff together (cd player, drumsticks, CDs and a creative writing book I borrowed from Brian) and headed over to Exclusive Company, our meeting place. Brian was running a little behind so I perused the CDs and got two – both compilations (Uncontrollable Fatulence – Fat Wreck Chords and Oil – Thick Records) and both are average after one listen. The Oil disc has a new (?) AK3 song called Old School Reasons that has the f-word in it a lot. The whole CD is semi-live, recorded in an old oil-blending factory in Chicago. It’s all Chicago bands and a cool idea.

Anyway, Brian showed up and we got to drumming. We had to set up both kits and I’m still not good at knowing what goes with what. We kicked out 12 Tom Petty tunes and a good 5 Billy Joel songs. The Nylon Curtain is a pretty intense CD. The last time we played together was before Christmas (maybe even before Thanksgiving), but I got back into it rather quickly. I’m still not coordinated enough to incorporate the bass drum consistently, but I’m getting there.

Before parting (Brian was staying behind to practice some more) we chatted a bit about Terry’s bachelor party and weddings. It was a nice talk and feels whatever was off between him and I is back on again. I read far too much into insignificant details. I headed home and got a game of Tetris in before bed.

Today is pretty quiet at work. I’m planning a staff party for next week and updating employee files (sorting papers into piles and stuffing them into folders). My degree is being put to good use. Tonight I’m heading to Andrea’s (former co-worker) to work on her resume and help her get a new job. I also get to play with her dogs, which is beyond great.

[livejournal.com profile] junebug is totally my new (Jedi) best friend.

I was just kidding.

Oh my, reading your post brought back sudden flashes of those three bridges and how annoying they are in summer when every little boat that goes by causes them go up.
And that got me thinking about the train tracks and how you can get stopped by the same train three times in a row while trying to navigate the city.

Who designed the layout of that town? So, so, so, so wrong.

I sometimes forget I have a former Oshkoshian on board :)

It's the Main Street bridge, so traffic at 5:00 is pretty bad.

I think criminal charges could be brough against the city planners...

That's the worst one to have closed down, too! Aye aye aye.

At least it's not the first week of August. They usually do all sorts of construction that week and I've NEVER understood that, what with all of the insane EAA traffic.

I got the Thick Oil Comp about a month ago. How do you like The Reputation's track on that comp? It's called Some Senseless Day and I love it... then again, I'm a huge Rep fan.

It's starting to grow on me. That, and the Local H song. The rest is rather, well, boring.
