Friday night I beat Kung Fu three times in a row and broke 440,000 points for the first time in my meager existence. Nintendo-thumb is a soothing condition to have.

Saturday we headed to Two Rivers with a brief stop at my parent’s house first. I had to pick up my boots and we ended up staying for half an hour visiting. I love spending time with my parents, but I need to remember that it’s never a quick visit. We hit the road at made it to Danielle’s around 11:00.

We chatted for a bit before heading to get some lunch. I’m always overjoyed when Subway’s have the veggie patty, since we’ve encountered more than one that hasn’t had them. We finished eating and went back to Danielle’s. We visited a bit more and then got changed and ready to go to the park.

After walking on the trail for a bit, Terry and I came to a playfield area. I tackled him something fierce and knew revenge would be his later on. We played on the swings for a bit and then continued on the trail. About 20 minutes later, we came to another clearing with a large pavilion. I was climbing up a large snow hill when I felt my legs unable to move. Terry had grabbed them from behind and I toppled down the hill. There’s something so enjoyable about tackling/being tackled in the snow. We were about to press onward after I brushed myself off when Terry turned to Danielle and said, “Did I give you the car keys?”

She replied with a no, and we knew that they had fallen out somewhere along the way. We backtracked to the playfield, brushing off every dark-colored object we found along the way. Upon arrival we went to the tackle area and came up empty-handed. Terry made his way to the swing set and luckily found the keys right away. I was relieved that my tackling didn’t jostle the keys loose, but I think that shows I need to tackle harder.

We made our way back to Danielle’s, got changed and I helped Danielle work on the website she is creating for their wedding. I got her setup with a Brinkster account and copied some of the information she already typed up. It’ll be pretty rad when it’s all done and has inspired me to make some changes to my own site. I like a lot of my writings, but feel that a good deal of it is very on the surface and appears to be formulated in the mind of a 15 year old. I’m not a very eloquent writer and I think the rants/raves show that pretty clearly. I would prefer to wait until we have a non-dialup Internet connection, but we’ll see.

Anyway, after getting that rolling, it was time for dinner. Terry made stuffed manicotti that was simply fantastic. Add a little garlic bread and some cherry sparkling cider and we were set. We retired to the living room, played a round of TriBond and conversed. Danielle asked if I wanted to interview her, but I decided to pass. If we had stayed overnight, I think we would’ve had more time, but we were having such a nice time I didn’t want to break it up. We got our stuff together and left shortly before 10.

Sunday we got together with LBEric and basically told him the reason that the match would be closing. He understood and I think it’s just for the best to put it behind us. I hope he calls us once in a while, as we told him he could do, but I’m doubtful.

Went over to pick up Brian at 2:00 and realized when he answered the door that my knock woke him up. Not the first time it’s happened and brought my mood down a bit. We went to the New Moon and conversed over warm beverages. I got my first taste of spiced chai tea, which will not be my last taste of spiced chai tea. Conversation was a little broken up, but I attributed it to us not having seen each other in a while and him being groggy from sleeping. Dropped him off around 3:30 and made my way to the grocery store.

Got home around 4:00 and did some reading until suppertime. One of the books I’m to read for my new job is How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. It is honestly one of the best books I’ve read in a long time, despite being written in the late ‘30s. The main theme of the book is a reflection of the Golden Rule. He applies it to the business setting but it’s so applicable to life in general as well. Smile at people, be generally interested in what they have to say and do small deeds to make other people happy. Makes me think of the potential each of us has to make life so much more enjoyable.

Made dinner and watched the usual Sunday line-up. I was lucky enough to be watching TV when Marie was flipping through the channels and found the actors/actresses that voice The Simpsons were going to be on Behind the Actor’s Studio. We watched about half of it and it’s quite good. I’m anxious to get all of the seasons of DVD and revel in the commentaries and extras.

Did some ironing, read some more and called it a night. I was able to drag myself out of bed this morning and Tae Bo’d it up for a bit. At any time I could have laid on the floor and drifted back to sleep, but I fought onward.

Tonight I’ll be at my former coworker’s house, helping her spruce up her resume and find a job worth working. I’m also going shoe shopping, so there may be bloodshed.
