Well, the Year of Brian began a little early. This morning the beard came off. And it feels so strange to be without it. Over the past four years, it became part of my identity the way my glasses have over the past year or so. I've never put much stock into looks. I think the beard made me look older. Now without it, my chin just looks fatter. Anyway, i've been feeling my smooth neck all day and it still hasn't quite sunk in.

I hope that the simple removal of facial hair will be symbolic of the New Me. In the past I've always put faith in New Year's resolutions, as if life improvements are that much easier simply because I've got a new Far Side calendar on the wall.

I've been in a funk most of today, partially due to not hearing about the job (although I did get a "we're still considering you" email a few hours ago), partially due to the shitty Packer game (don't even get me started) and partially due to life in general.

When all signs should point to happiness, why isn't that the result? I'm hoping that it's just all of the travel catching up to me. I've got about 20 different things to do, and have spent most of today in front of the television or computer. I haven't been able to shake the "blahs".

Tomorrow Terry and Danielle are coming over for New Years, which should do a lot to raise my spirits. Maybe I just need to get out more.

I have the *weirdest* dreams after sex.

I think it'll be Eagles/Titans in the Big Dance. And please, please, please squash the Titans. With the Jaguars as my second favorite team, they are to me what the Cowboys are to the Packers.

Sacks of monkey shit.

And thanks; today is much better.
