The nightmare after Christmas
Dec. 27th, 2002 10:53 am***I didn't get the job. I was in a large building that extended larger than my current employer's facilities. I looked out the window and saw 30 or 40 employees all leaving for lunch at the same time, like it was at a school and they were all scurrying out to the bike racks. I returned to my desk and saw I had a voice mail message waiting for me. It was Annie, but with Andrea's voice. She said that they picked someone with better copy writing and creativity and then faded into an Alkaline Trio song (one off of God*amnit). At work I can press the # key and fast forward through the message, but the song just kept playing. I kneeled on the floor and pounded the ground; I was so dismayed.***
I awoke with a startle and noticed the clock. 4:23. It was all a bad dream. I realized I still hadn't heard about the job and that I still have 2 hours of sleep. I rolled around and generally could not get comfortable until the alarm rang.
So I sit here and wait. My stomach does back flips every time the phone rings. I'm staying hopeful and positive. No matter the outcome, everyone has been super supportive of me and that makes a huge difference. Here's to hoping I make everyone proud.
Last night was Christmas in Neenah, and it was really nice. Way too much food and way too many presents, but we knew that going into it. I'll post a full list of swag after the weekend so you can smolder with jealousy. Or not.
