Hi.

I'm halfway through the holidays and things are progressing nicely. My wonderful wife (my crappy wife didn't get me anything) surprised me with a stack of all available back issues of The Sun, roughly 125 in all. Next to Gigantic Asses, it's my favorite periodical. I was shocked and elated. It was the perfect gift for me. Times like these make me fall in love with her all over again. Not because of the gift, but because she knows me so well. I need to remember that more often.

I'm too guilty of long, detailed entries, so I'll keep this one short(er) and sweet(er). Marie and I saw the second LOTR movie and it was wicked awesome, with the exception of the kid behind us who simply would not stop talking through the movie. A few whispers here and there are fine by me, but for the love of all that is holy and pure, respect the other people in the theater. Marie finally turned and said something to him, which worked quite well. I think he was scared at the movie and talked to his dad during it to make it more comfortable.

We had many nice meals and lots of presents. Had an enjoyable time in Appleton at my aunt and uncles and also in Janesville with Marie's dad's relatives. I did get both the new Foo and Pearl Jam CDs, so my abstinence was well worth it; both disc are quite good. I also got Shadow Warrior via eBay for under $5, so I'll be kicking some ass Lo Wang style over the weekend.

I'm going to make a CD containing songs from my favorite band's first albums. I think it'll be neat.

I'm realizing I've got a lot to do once the New Year starts. Photos to scan, hard drives to clean out and a new me to work towards. I'm hoping by making it so public and frequent, along with other changes, it will be that much harder to fail this time around.

I was disappointed to read (via an interview with The Onion) that Henry Rollins sometimes has sex with strippers. Heros are useless.

It took me 3 tries and much time to catch-up on my friends page. I think it might be time to trim a bit.

Tonight is Christmas at my parent's house and tomorrow we'll be in Kenosha. Luckily the roads have been dry and uncongested.

On the Potential New Job front, I had not heard anything since my 2nd interview on the 16th. Figuring that I would have heard by now, I was coming to grips with the fact that another job opportunity had slipped through my fingers. That is, until this morning. I got a call at work from my contact person, Annie. She said that due to the holidays things have been delayed. I'm one of the final candidates and I will hear from her tomorrow in regards to the job. She said that my 2nd interviewers were impressed with me and I loathe the fact that I couldn't fully verbalize my feelings due to being 10 feet away from my boss, well within earshot. I chose my words carefully and did my best to continually express my interest. She sent me a copy of the benefits and job description, which I'm guessing is a good sign. Why would she bother if I wasn't being seriously considered? I'm hoping The Year of Brian starts off on the high note I've been hoping for, but even if it doesn't I have no excuse not to proceed as planned.

I'm smiling more genuinely than I have in a long, long time.
