Overhead butthole
Dec. 20th, 2002 02:31 pmTerry schooled my ass in cribbage (winning the tournament with a skunk, which is the worst way to go) and in Yoshi, beating my three games to two. I got a jump on the new tournament 3-0, but it's little consolation since I'll have to grow the economy by purchasing a skanky R&B disc for him.
I made pancakes for dinner Wednesday night. They were really, really good. It got me thinking, can you make scrambled pancakes like you make scrambled eggs?
So let's talk about me for a bit. I've been nervous these past few days about the Potential New Job. I really, really want it and thought I would have heard something by now. I'm going to make a call this afternoon to see if they have any info for me. It'll be even harder news to take if I don't get the job since I've mentally left my current job weeks ago. Obligations I've agreed to and projects forthcoming, I've kept in the back of my mind that it'll be someone else's problem because I'll be gone. Maybe I'm not mature enough for this new job. At my current job, so much seems to be thrown together at the last minute that our reputation as a department (and our individual reputations) are hurt. I was encouraged during my 2nd interview at the Potential New Job when they stated that they have solid way of doing things and I would simply be there to exist within those guidelines. Some structure would be a welcome change.
Today is "Grazing Day" at work, whereas departments get together, come up with a theme and proceed to make 15-20 items pertaining to said theme. Then, they set-up their tables and themes and employees come, en masse, to pig out. I wish we had better things to get together over besides food. Raw vegetables with curry dip isn't as good as it sounds, but the warm apple cider hit the spot.
We're leaving Saturday for Wausau and coming back on the 24th. The night of the 24th we'll be in Appleton. The 25th we'll be near Madison and the 27th we'll be in Kenosha. The Brian and Marie World Tour should be a fun one this year.
I watched an hour and a half of I Love the 80s last night. I have no excuse.
Marie and I made cookies last night, to abysmal results. First, we tried making those green wreath cookies (with the little cinnamon candies for holly), which turned into little cookie pancakes once put into the oven. Next we tried making chocolate mint (I know, I know) sandwich cookies. They also did the pancake routine once in the oven. After the peanut blossoms went so well, I guess we were bound for a letdown. At least we can laugh about it. Lately, Marie and I have found a lot to laugh about. There's nothing better than being in bed with someone you love, laughing until you start crying. I hope in the New Year I can take more pleasure in the everyday occurrences in life.
11 days until The Year of Brian begins. I'm sopping wet over here.
Since this is my final entry before Christmas, I'll wish everyone a very safe and happy holiday with the hopes that we all count our blessings and use 2003 to make a positive difference in the world. To my friends and family, I love you more than you'll possibly know and your support and kindness keep me going everyday. It's a privilege to have you each in my life.
