Clever like MacGyver
Oct. 21st, 2002 04:48 pmFriday night was a quiet one, as Marie and I had an early morning for our trip to Door County. We had stir fry for dinner, watched What Dream May Come and retired to the bedroom for non-sleeping activities. Lovely.
Saturday we were at my parent's house by 7:30 and headed North. We went from city to city (most are seperated by about 6 or 10 miles) and hit up all of the quaint little shops. It was refreshingly refreshing to not see a McDick's or WalMart in the area. I had a fantastic breakfast (english muffin, hash browns and a salsa/cheese omlette), fantastic snack (door county cherry tart with hot apple cider) and a fantastic dinner ("Amazing Veggie Burger" and fries at Red Robin back in Appleton). I really like eating.
Sunday was a nice, quiet day. I did a few things off my "to do" list and watched a good deal of football. Glad that Favre's injury is minor and hope he will be back for the Monday Night game. For him to get injured, it couldn't have come at a better time. Coincidentially, I'm playing
jonnyv this week, who had started Favre. I'm winning by 11 but he has Indy's kicker tonight. I'm hoping to improve to 5-2, and distance myself from the rest of the group (who will most likely end up 3-4). I've also got the top percentage at
nfl_picks, which must be an error.
Today is the first day for my new boss, which is going quite well. Weird to be "training" my boss, but not really. I think she's going to be really great and might entice me to stick around longer than usual. Probably not, but could serve as a good reference.
Tonight Terry will be coming by, as he's got other plans for this Wednesday. I must salvage my good cribbage name tonight. Thy will be done.
I want to run around in the rain today, but Social Norms won't let me.
Marie and I will be tightening our respective belts to hopefully be able to cough up the required funding for a downpayment on a house. If only I could count on my raise in March to be worth something, it might be more doable. That coupled me my eventual need for new wheels might push things off a bit. At least I get my pornography for free.
I got the nicest letter from
so_gracefully on Friday. Marie wouldn't believe that it was her handwritting, it was too perfect. I think I'd rather get a letter from a friend than find a $20 bill. I also think I'm about the only person who thinks that the post office charging 37 cents for a stamp is a-ok with me. Privitize it and watch rates shoot through the roof and service cut to 3x per week.
