Yesterday was a long day. The gray hung in the air for entirely too long with no thunderstorms to reward my patience. I spent the evening scanning in photos from Seattle and talking to Carrie A. on the phone. Nice to surprise a friend with a phone call "just because". She instantly became my hero as she detailed how she installed a new computer chip in her old car and sold it for 5x what the dealership would have given her for trade-in value.

I get all my good links from [livejournal.com profile] airborne1 - War? What is it good for? Huh - Intelligent posters.

Ok, except for this one. I'm not sure if I should be horribly offended or give into the snickering in my head.

I felt better last night but my 'insomnia' is back. I think I still might be on Seattle time. I didn't fall asleep until after 11 and woke up at 4:20 (dude) and had to pee. I had a dream that myself and two of my male friends were going to have sex with a female friend, at the same time. Later, in the same dream, there was a news-type program interviewing a woman I didn't recognize, saying that it was the Mormon faith and way of doing things. I'm assuming it was in reference to the earlier part of my dream. Incredibly odd.

Went back to bed for an hour and then Up and Atom for a long overdue trip to the YMCA. The whole process (waking up early, driving my car a few miles to the Y and spending half an hour on a treadmill while staring at one of the four televisions in front of me) made me think that I should simply go outside of the apartment and walk around the neighborhood instead. Granted, the Y membership was free and I do like being able to lift weights on occasion, but why go to the other side of town to exercise? Maybe I'd feel more connected if I spent more time near home.

Once I get our Seattle trip paid off, I think I'm going on a CD shopping spree. Tegan and Sara, The Weakerthans, Cake, and so on. Time to pay for some of my MP3s I've enjoyed for so long.

Perhaps it would be best if we judged the absurdity of things based upon how someone from the Third World would react. "You know beauty is more than skin deep. But try telling that to your hair." I read that on my bottle of shampoo this morning and cringed a bit. Absurd.

I had this idea while I was working at the campground. I think I should do my regular friends next...

[livejournal.com profile] airborne1 - Intelligent and balanced, he makes you feel like you've known him for a long time. In a good way.

[livejournal.com profile] blue_sunshine - Back when she returned my emails, she has a way with words that sends tingles down my spine. Sense of humor that rivals even mine.

[livejournal.com profile] dream4distance - d4d is one of the first people I "met" while using the Random function and posting comments. He's remarkably well-informed about lots of music and despite him not liking "new" Weezer, he's still a good, thoughtful guy.

[livejournal.com profile] harleyquinn - Probably the nicest person I've got on my friend's list, Harley is honest, passionate and fabulous. She also plays trombone, which means respect is due.

[livejournal.com profile] jamessqueaky - One of two celebrities on my friend's list, James has a way of making life seem wonderful and confusing at the same time.

[livejournal.com profile] jonnyv - My only "real life" friend on the list, Jon is all about keeping it honest and he's got fantastic taste in music. He's going to make someone very, very happy someday.

[livejournal.com profile] mikecheck - Mike gives me the feeling that I'm not alone in my thoughts and has the wisdom of an elder (despite not being that much elder than me).

[livejournal.com profile] reject - Probably the best writer I've never met, Jeb balances out his worldy rage with a well-informed mind and a courageous voice. He also likes to wipe his boogers on his brother, which is good on so many levels.

[livejournal.com profile] richmackin - The other celebrity on my list, Rich strikes me as someone that you'd want to have your picture taken with. I need to get my hands on some of his books/zines.

[livejournal.com profile] royalknight - Nick succeeds at accounting, which makes him higher on the food chain that I am. Significantly higher. He's got white-boy dancing down to a science and is a great conversationalist.

[livejournal.com profile] so_gracefully - Kayte equals hot. She is a wonderful writer and is down-to-earth without being afraid to dream.

[livejournal.com profile] vegasdemilo - Back when she returned my emails, Vegas was probably my closest friend for a while. She is good at asking for advice and doesn't take no for an answer. She also let me be on her radio show, which was fun. I got to tell the Twicketface story to many uninterested listeners in New York.

[livejournal.com profile] xjustinx - When he's not being a jackass, Justin can be a really good guy. He used to call me all the time and command me to yell out weird things to Marie. I wish I was half the writer he was.
