This has nothing to do with your post, but I remembered something that I saw on the telly a few days ago that made me laugh. I thought you'd get a kick out of it.

A very stern-faced, grey-haired man stares directly ahead and says (in a political ad): "I will work hard to protect America from liberal beliefs." Or something very close to that effect. He said this without laughing once.

You call it the "telly"? Telly is the monster with 6 or 8 stray hairs atop his head and the gravely voice.

When I rule the world, all stern-faced, grey-haired men will be forced to do my grocery shopping and mow my lawn.

Not really the telly (in American accent) as much as "the telly" (in British accent). Sometimes I speak like that for the mere sake of sounding arch (ala Madonna). Also, the use of "petrol" when the moment strikes me.

I'm trying to rid my vocabulary of the word "lost" with the exception of it meaning "I don't know where I am/going"

No more "losing" weight, no more "losing" my job, no more "losing" it. Inaccurate.
