Well, where to begin. Friday I was feeling pretty low. I was really frustrated and rushed at work and felt (once again) that I wasn’t where I wanted to be in terms of a career. It’s a depressing feeling but welcome to my life. I want to have a job where I can make a positive difference and feel that I’m making a contribution to society. While you could make that claim for any job, I feel that there are others that would be more suiting. I just need to find out what those are and how to best seek them out. Enough negativity, there will be more later.

Friday night I found out that Jeremy (former college roommate and best man in my wedding) got engaged. I’m so happy for them and will be the best man for them in November of 2002. I hadn’t talked to Jeremy since the wedding (he’s not the best communicator) so it was so nice to chew the rag with him and get caught up. Also got a chance to talk to Liz and spent some time playing Press Your Luck. I always Whammy out. Sigh.

Saturday was an early start. I was in Neenah by 8:00 to go part hunting with my dad to fix my rear defrost. We headed to the salvage yard and made our way through the mud and puddles. It was unbelievably muddy and I honestly thought my dad was going to lose his shoe. We made our way to a row of Buicks and found one that had a similar dashboard. My dad set to work on removing the dashboard panel and liberating the part from the car. I walked around the salvage yard in search of another Buick that matched, in case the first part didn’t match up. It was really sad to see hundreds upon hundreds of cars that were completely junked. There were loose parts and garbage (mostly 20 oz Pepsi bottles and cigarette wrappers) strewn everywhere. I kept expecting the clown from IT to jump out and eat my face.

My dad got the part out of the car after about 10 minutes and we made our way out to pay for it ($5) and drive home to install it into my car. We didn’t know if we had a fit either, because the part that we took from the salvage yard could have been broken all along. So we got home and popped it in and were encouraged to see the little LED light come on. Haven’t had a frost yet to test it out, but I’ve got a good feeling that it’ll work.

Had to stop at Kohl’s to get a gift certificate for X-mas and made my way back home. Marie had decorated the tree and went on a present wrapping frenzy. We went out for lunch to Lee’s Buffet and had some great Chinese food. I think I offended our waitress by refilling my own soda but I don’t like to be waited on hand and foot. Plus, she was eating while we were there so I didn’t want to bother her. Anyway, the food was pretty cheap ($12 total) and they had a good variety. We had to stop at the grocery store to get some soda for Poker Night and also at the bank.

Got home and played some Rummy 5,000,000 (I’ve got about a 200 point lead on Marie, but not for long). Marie and I cleaned up the apartment and I played some more video games. I had a good run at Yoshi with Henry Rollins providing the soundtrack.

Left for the guys’ around 4:45 or so and played (and lost) my first game of Madden for the evening. Jon arrived around 6:30 or so and Noah showed up a little bit later. Terry, Eric and I went on a Subway run, so I indulged in a foot long veggie sub. It was great. Pretty much rotated in and out of poker and Madden for the evening. I lost my second game of Madden by a huge margin and have decided to simulate half of my games this season and play the remaining 4 myself. It’s lost its appeal to me for some reason and it’s not fun when it’s really hard to win.

There was an incident as well that still bothers me. Noah was acting like an ass and trying to get a rise out of Terry by flinging Doritos at him from across the table. Terry (obviously) got annoyed and told him to stop which prompted Noah to keep it up. Terry was visibly angry but Noah didn’t stop until Terry took the bowl of Doritos away from him. It was all pretty stupid and petty. Noah strikes me as someone who can switch from joking around to being serious on a dime and those he is around are not able to tell the difference. He also plays the ‘you don’t like me because I’m fat’ card way too often. At times I really like Noah and think that he’s a good guy, but it always seems to be on his terms and I don’t think that’s the way friendship should be.

The incident ended and things seemed to be all right after that, but it shouldn’t have been started in the first place. We played some 4 player Bond after that, which ruled. They have a capture the flag type game that was very addicting. I called it a night around 1:30 and didn’t fall asleep until about 2:30. Just thinking about the events of the night and my job situation.

Sunday was better. Woke up, did a load of laundry and spent some time on the computer. Marie went shopping with my mom and I made my way over to the guys’ again for the game. Jeremy and Kristie showed up so we could wish them congratulations in person. Always good to have them as part of the crew. Jeremy made the mistake of bringing Grand Theft Auto 3 along. That game is precisely the reason I don’t have a PS2. I could have easily spent 8 hours playing that game. We passed the controller around to everyone so we all had a chance, but it never seemed to be enough. As juvenile as they are, video games are so much fun. On Sunday, Noah was fine and we had a good conversation, but I still get unnecessarily upset about

Got home around 5:30 and spent the rest of the night with Marie. We watched Simpsons and Malcolm in the Middle and lounged around. I did a little reading and was asleep by 9:00 or so. Woke up tired as hell, as per usual.

I had two weird dreams. First was that Marie and I were driving down Jackson St. and my alternator went. This is funny because mine really did need to be replaced on the 4th of July weekend and when I talked to Jeremy on Friday he told me of how his broke around Thanksgiving time. My parents were instantly there and my dad was angrily talking on the phone to the repair shop. I caught something about them going to fly a plane to rescue us or something.

Secondly, in a separate dream Oshkosh had two WTC towers that were being destroyed (like, on purpose) and I watched as the fire engulfed both towers and collapsed them. I remember seeing people catch on fire and run around, but I chalk that up to the GTA3 influence. I then went into a bookstore of some sort. Only when I’m really tired or sleeping in a different bed do I remember my dreams.

Tonight will be watching Futurama and Home Movies tape and probably some grocery shopping. I’m looking forward to an early evening of sleeping. I also need to write [livejournal.com profile] reject back. I think he’ll titter at my handwriting.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must go doze off behind my desk.
