Well, I got a call from Marie that I got a call from the director of HR regarding the position I applied for. She (the director) left her work, cell and home phone numbers for me to get back to her. Yikes? Anyway, I called her back and we set up a time for a phone interview for tomorrow. I’ll be talking with her and the HR manager, who is the guy I talked to the first time. This will be the first time for me to be on the interviewee end of it, which will be interesting. I get nervous in situations like this, so I hope I can stay calm and come across as one cool dood. Like that’s ever been a problem before.

I see pros and cons to staying where I’m at and also to leaving. This is rather confusing. If they were in Oshkosh, I would consider it a lot more, but since they are 30 minutes away, that would add a lot to my driving time and with the weather conditions of Wisconsin winters, this might not be the best. I hope this doesn’t come across as whining, because I’m glad that I ‘made it this far’ in the process and that they are interested in me. But, since I already left my current employer and decided to come back, I know I can’t do it again. But that’s a long story.

So tonight, after visiting with my brother and family, I think we’ll be heading back early so I can get prepared, come up with some questions to ask and be ready for it. I’ve booked a conference room to do so, so I can have some privacy. It also feels sort of ‘icky’ doing the job search while I’m on the job, but I don’t see another way to do so.

Anyway, an odd thing happened to me before. Since our offices are connected to our museum, I have a choice of bathrooms; either the ones in the office or the ones out in the museum lobby. Since the ones out in the lobby are usually cleaner, I often use them. This means that (obviously) museum patrons use the ones in the lobby as well. Anyway, I went to the museum bathroom (men’s room, mind you) and went into one of the stalls. A few minutes later, I hear a woman’s voice, talking to her young son IN THE MEN’S ROOM. Apparently, he had to wash his hands, so she came in with him. Now, I’m not bashful or a prude, but wouldn’t you think the woman would bring him into the Woman’s bathroom to wash his hands? They left after about 30 seconds and it was no big deal, but it just made me wonder what people are thinking. I asked a co-worker if, when her kids were younger, she would do the same as the woman did to me, and she agreed it was a really weird thing to do. How come common sense isn’t?

Well, I guess that’s all for me for now. I’m sure I’ll have a lot to share tomorrow. Anticipation is delicious.
