Happy go lucky

Well, what a pleasant weekend. Weather was nice for the most part and got to spend time with friends. And even got called a Pinko (Hi Kristie’s Mom!). Living the good life, to say the least.

Friday was a date with my wife. We went out to eat at the Winemaker for dinner, a nearby restaurant that neither of has had been to before. A little pricey for the amount of food, but it was pretty good all the same. Afterwards we watched Magnolia. Despite it being a 3 hour movie, it was engaging and entertaining. I really love the character of the cop (I can’t remember his name and haven’t seen him in anything else). He was so on the level and you had to take him at face value (he didn’t have anything to hide, he seemed a very bold character and lived his life true to himself) and really struck me as a great way to be. It was a little peculiar but I love the way it cut in and out between 5 or 6 different stories and how the characters were intermingled.

Saturday we spend most of the day with my cousin Jenny. As is tradition, during the month of each of their birthdays, Marie and I spend the day with one of my 3 young female cousins and do whatever they please. It’s quite enjoyable to Marie and I to spoil my cousins for the day and also to have interaction with younger kids (for the someday that we will probably multiply). So Saturday was our day with Jenny (she just turned 8). We picked her up in Fond du Lac (about 30 minutes south of where we live) and brought her back to our place. We gave her the grand tour of our apartment and then settled into a lovely game of Simpsons Clue. Marie ended up winning (it was Marge with the slingshot in the Frying Dutchman. It’s always the one you least expect…) and we decided to get some lunch. We headed to Culver’s and had some good food and a nice visit. Jenny kept calling me Mountain and I kept calling her Pipsqueak. Marie ended up to be Hill, since she was in-between Jenny and I in terms of height. After that we went to the Outlet Mall and shopped around there for a few hours. While I’d rather do something a little more beneficial than shopping, we want it to be their day and have them decide what to do. I got a few packs of cards at KB Toys and Jenny got one of those toys that is square shaped and has rows and rows of needles on it, that you can use to make an impression of your hand, your face or whatever. Do you know what I mean? They were popular when I was a kid, so I know they’ve been around for a while. Anyway, through the course of the day Jenny also got a jewelry box and an American Girl accessory (a desk/shelf of some sort). Hence, her purse was then empty and it was time to hit the road back to Fond du Lac. We got back around mid-afternoon and had some Baby Ruth bars that my aunt made (which are every bit as good as they sound) and chatted for a bit with the rest of the family. Played with Murphy the wonder dog and then went back to Oshkosh. Watched some football for a bit and read some of the new magazines I got. I highly, highly, highly recommend that each and everyone of you check out The Sun. The best magazine I’ve read in a long time and very great. Zero advertising and more of what I need to ingest. Had a supper of leftovers and watched French Kiss. Pretty good movie, and I think one of Marie’s favorites.

Sunday was going to involve helping my brother move, but he never called so I’m guessing he got it all done on Saturday. Spent some time on the computer and watching the pre-game hype. Had some lunch with Marie and left to go over to the guys’. Stopped at Exclusive Company first and got 2 CDs, the latest Rocket from the Crypt and a punk sampler that I’ll be listening to soon. Went to the guys, lost pitifully to the Packers (as the Seahawks) 14-36. I’m now 0-2. Made a trade with the Bucs to get rid of Adam Timmerman and Koren Robinson, my only Pro Bowl player of last year because they both were making too much money. Got their right guard and Jacquez Green and am working out a trade for possibly Deuce McAllister from the Saints (coached by Eric). Would be giving up two starters for him, but might be worth it. Hard to say if it’s my O-line that is playing poorly or if it’s that Shaun Alexander can’t get it done. Time will tell. Watched the Packers get thoroughly embarrassed and played some cribbage with Terry when he got home around 8 or so. Was home a little after nine and went to bed soon after.

Which brings us to here. Here I am, at work yet again. I had troubles falling asleep last night, which sucks because it finally felt like I was able to fall asleep when I wanted to. Hopefully, it’s only a slight relapse for me. I’m going to try and make an appointment with the chiropractor soon since my upper back and shoulders have been aching lately.

Random thoughts of the day:
Football affects my mood too much. I can’t help but feel that if the Packers had won, I would be smileier (yes, that’s what Microsoft spell checker changed ‘more smiley’ to, so it’s a word!) today. That shouldn’t be.

I’m a full-fledged pacifist, at least I think so. I’ll get back to you on that one.

I miss hearing from [livejournal.com profile] reject. I hope he gets his phone service back soon.

I also need to start writing letters to my friends that are out of the local area. I haven’t sent mail to people I care about in a long time.

Also, I’ll be sending out nasty letter #2 to Best Buy tomorrow, I’ll have Marie review it tonight. She’s a good proofreader.

Tonight our photographer is coming to take our order for reprints of pictures, so we can have them in time for X-mas. He’s a really odd guy but he’s totally great. Someone who really loves their job (which leaves me green with envy) and is damn good at it too.

>>Football affects my mood too much. <<

I'm the same way about hockey. My moods on game nights tend to hinge on whether my Rangers win or lose. Maybe that's why I've been so depressed for so long. ;)

Well, if you heard anything about the Jaguars/Bills or Packers/Vikings game(s), you know that I share the same feeling. Sigh. :)

I miss that boy too.
ICQ isn't the same without him.

Any idea on why he lost his phone service or where he's at? Is he moving? I used to chat with him on IM rather frequently, but haven't in a while with his new job and long hours.

Jeb! Come back!!
