So Sunday night I made plans to visit with Carrie B, as she lives a scant 30 miles from Oak Brook (the site of my heretofor useless training). We met at the hotel and ate pretzels and cheese dip while watching the Packers get humiliated by the Colts. We went to a restaurant for some deep dish pizza and I got to meet her boyfriend Jon (or is it John?). He's a really nice guy and makes her really happy, which is what she (and everyone except for Joan Rivers) deserves. He gave me a copy of his band's CD to check out (I'm told it's along the lines of RATM, but with more funk) and we talked music for a good portion of the evening.

Our pizza was a combination of fresh garlic, onions, pineapple and 1/2 broccoli 1/2 green pepper. It was quite possibly the best pizza ever assembled. The cheese-garlic bread left a little something to be desired, but it was a good meal.

Hitting Chicago traffic at 4:30 and Milwaukee traffic at 5:30 on the way home wasn't all that great, but at least I was smart enough to bring along my Discman. Now that SharingTheGroove is back up, I found a previously unreleased Foo Fighters song from 1993 called "Mountain View" that is pretty good. I've downloaded enough of their shows to be considered the fifth member.

While my job is very hectic and frustrating at times, the commitment to technology is pretty great. 6 months ago I asked for a flat screen monitor and had one the next day. I also recently inquired about having a laptop instead of a desktop, on account of all my travels. It came this morning - faster than my home computer, Windows XP and loaded with FireFox. Plus, I have a docking station at work so I can use a regular keyboard/mouse when in the office. Both of which are now wireless, which is great. The downside is that all of my favorites and cache-stored usernames and passwords for websites are gone, so I have to start over. I do realize how minor this is in the grand scheme of things.

Tonight I'm getting my oil changed, dropping off my books at the library and trying to limit my CD purchases to 4. I haven't bought a CD since the end of July (which is a long time for me) based on a promise to Marie since I spent over $100 on DVDs (Family Guy, Futurama).

We're also switching from our bank to a credit union to take advantage of cheaper loan rates and be better people (from a community-support perspective) that will probably be frustrating until it's all settled. I'm realizing that life in general will never be full settled until I'm dead.

I love me some good firefox
