Not that you wanted to know

Marie's been reading up on pregnancy stuff lately and came across this interesting tidbit last night - apparently, store bought 'personal lubricant' can impede sperm travel. Instead, the book recommended vegetable oil.

I will never, ever, think of Florence Henderson the same.

Olive oil and crisco also work and cause less irritation than other commecial lubricants.

But what if they go so fast that heat is generated and it starts to sizzle? ;)

Crisco? Well, then.

Sick! That seems unsanitary and also rather messy.

I need to read this info myself before I believe it! And even then...

how would a gal ever get the grease out of herself after that? She'd be lubed with oil for weeks. I would imagine it would be quite uncomfortable. You could probably cook your sausage in it!

Is she pregnant?

That's what I'm thinking - the chance of irritation seems to be quite high.

No, not yet. Hopefully within the next few months.

[identity profile] htothem.livejournal.com 2004-06-23 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, from what I understand, the irritation is quite low. I've never used it, but I'm on a "women's group" type newsgroup. It's frequently recommended for women who are sensitive to propylene(sp?) glycol, which is in a lot of other lubes.

I just read (about a day before Marie shared the info with me) about a totally organic lube called "Nude". You can learn a lot from the back pages of Utne.

Note to self: use lots of store bought lubricant.

Have a baby please, just so I can hold it and dress it in packers clothes until I get over my "I think I need a baby" phase

In this department you can alway work harder.

Why is it that if you had posted "Marie and I have decided to use Crisco instead of store bought lube"
I would have freaked out and went eww gross. But in a post like this I am actually encouraging this?

I was thinking, "but oil based lubes break down condoms!" until I realized that you won't need any of those for baby-making now will you?

[identity profile] twicketface.livejournal.com 2004-06-23 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly! I've only used a condom once - it was rather weird feeling.

Ditto. Oil-based lubes and the holiest of holeys just don't mix.

I'm suspecting an April Fool's joke on the part of the author.
