I had my annual physical today. I really like my doctor and overall, my results were good. All of my blood work came back in range, in spite of being 15 (!) pounds heavier than I was last year. I attribute it to a mix of stress-eating every time I looked at the news and the combination of tennis elbow/calf strain that made working out frustrating.
As the calf doesn't seem to be healing on its own, I'm starting physical therapy next week. Hopefully short term and I'll get some good exercises/stretches I can do on my own to keep things in check. The same day (of course, several hours later, so I get to go there, come home to work for a bit and then go back again), I'll get the mole on my shoulder removed. No concerns of cancer or anything, but it protrudes (as in, you'd think I was smuggling a chocolate chip under my shirt if you got close) out enough that it's annoying. So will be good to get it removed.
Last night was the long-awaited Super Bowl party with Nate. It's really what kick started getting the basement repainted, recarpeted and furnished. I'm overall happy with how the room turned out - the furniture makes it cozier than I'd like but it'll work until it doesn't. Kimberly came over for a good chunk of the game and Ben stopped by late in the third quarter. I wasn't rooting for Philly as much as I was for the destruction of New England so I'm pleased with how it turned out.
I've got there separate church meetings this week (journey group, journey group facilitator and music director search committee, and a fourth meeting for Worship Leaders next Monday) and while they all should be fine, I'm hoping they all end early. Only one has the propensity to go long with a few participants who need to weigh in at length on every topic. Still, cool to be asked to participate and I think I have something to offer each group.
Ben and I are going to see Foo Fighters in October in Milwaukee and I'm really, really excited. Couldn't get tickets to the Madison show last year, so pleasantly surprised they're coming back (and playing in Chicago in July) so soon. Their latest album isn't my favorite but their concerts are supposed to be an experience.
I turn 40 in May and other than allowing myself to get a snowblower, I haven't come up with much by way of celebration. Not dreading it in the slightest as getting old is hilarious.
Also trying to find a good cribbage board plan to help (have?) my dad make one in his workshop for Terry for his 40th birthday. They're hopefully relocating from Missouri to Illinois with a job change next year, which would make more frequent visits possible.
That's all I got for now.
