Eau Claire was fine - the new employee was quite pleasant despite a mess-up on the part of the Sr. Manager (What? We need to conduct a background and reference check BEFORE we make an offer?). Spent a lot of time watching TV and fighting an incredibly strong urge (no, not that. I did that anyway) to not watch the newest episode of Six Feet Under, as the room had HBO. It was tough, but I was victorious. Marie and I will be renting Season Two, likely this weekend, and basking in the glory of it all.

Travel note: When dining at the Fazoli's off of Highway 53 in Eau Claire, ordering ravioli with marinara sauce to go means ravioli with meat sauce for here. I noticed the 'for here' part and had that remedied, but not the meat sauce part until I was back at the hotel room. I ate around it as best I could and thought my body would forgive me. My first red meat in about 6 months did not go over too well.

Anyway, got back around 6 and played some tennis with Eric. If I could increase my first serve efficiency, I could probably win the set in straight games. But alas, I double-faulted all over the place. I blame the humidity. It was fun and I'm really glad that Eric and I are committed to playing once a week. I'm playing again with my brother tomorrow night and against Terry on Thursday. Hell yes.

Automatic withdrawal of bills is becoming the bane of my existence.

Marie and I are indeed heading to Canada for our anniversary - Sioux St. Marie to be exact. It's about a 5 hour drive from where we are and should be relatively affordable. Should be the last 'vacation' before we start spawning the new socialist army, if all goes according to plan.

Slept very poorly last night - my mind was racing with a million thoughts. I haven't had that happen (at least, at bedtime) in a few months. Part of it was the termination this morning (which went remarkably well, all things considered) and part of it was just life in general.

I had to remind my boss (in Milwaukee) that I don't have my review scheduled yet (the question of who exactly would be delivering my review has yet to be answered) and given that Thursday is when our new salaries are reflected on our paychecks, it might be a good idea to get it done before then. So, we'll see what happens. Part of me wanted to not mention anything to see if it was noticed, but then it would probably reflect poorly on me for not bringing it up. Because sometimes, life can be that way.
