This weekend was busy and quite enjoyable, all rolled into one. Friday at lunch I walked over to get the new NOFX CD and ran into Brian, getting my birthday present. It was pretty neat. Friday night was a fund raiser for the local Kiwanas club that Marie got free tickets for. We sat by some psychotic women who tried to be part-deviant, part-innocent when it came to how much they like to drink. They were neither. We did have three celebrity sightings - Dick Clark (kinda), Steve Buschemi (probably a distant cousin) and a guy who was either a skinny version of Boss Hog or the actor who played Blanche's dad on Golden Girls. Fancy.

Saturday was my birthday and it was quite nice. I got a call from my parents, singing to me and wishing me well. Terry did the same (thankfully, without the singing) as did my brother. Marie had the day planned for me, which was a surprise. She got me a cool new work shirt and a framed saying for the house that she got in Madison - a store that engages in Fair Trade and generally makes me feel good about myself. It was perfect. The start of our date was at the planetarium (It was National Astronomy Day) for a peek at some of the exhibits and a virtual reality show in the planetarium that, at times, made me want to puke. We both had our eyes closed at certain parts, but overall it was pretty neat. From there we went to Cy's for dinner. It was fantastic, as always. We had our meals literally 15 minutes after we ordered. After that we went to the comedy club in Appleton. The comedians were good, but not great. The headliner started off quite mysogonistically but improved (somewhat) as the night went on. We left around 9:30 once the show was over and barely made it home. The rain/thunder/lightning was cool, but a little difficult to maneuver at times. I had to pull off the highway a few exits early and ride through town instead.

Jeremy called on Saturday while we were out, so I phoned him back Sunday morning. We had a nice conversation and I realized how much I miss his insights and personality. I hope that over the summer we can get together more often, even if it's just the two of us.

We met up with Terry and Danielle around 1:30 in Appleton and they showered me with gifts for the new house. A hose, sprayer attachment, car washing sponge, car washing soap and a bucket. It was really nice. I realized that once you hit 25, the practicality kicks in. As it should, I suppose. After that we went to my parent's house for Mother's Day. We got my mom a houseplant in a cool pot. We had a nice visit, my brother and family stopped by, and after the left we got pizzas for dinner. My dad also hooked us up with a trunkload of boxes for the impending move. After that we headed home and pretty much called it a night.
