Friday night I had a dream involving Marie and I thinking we needed to get together with our Little Brother right away. I scrambled to get dressed and Marie said “I hope you can get dressed faster than World War 4”. Later, I was at the Exclusive Company with my Great Big Headphones on and the clerk, who I did not recognize, handed me a CD of a band “320” and said “Man, you are totally going to leave these guys, man. They rock!” I got tangled up with my headphone wires with someone else, who apologized through a thick German accent. I went into a small room that was a “Listening Station” and suddenly I was listening to The Weakerthans “Aside”, followed by some Weird Al. It’s the first dream I can remember hearing music. Suddenly, I’m still in the Listening Room but I’m naked and there is a toilet in the room. I realize I have to pee and do so. I flush and the whole room starts shaking, like an earthquake. I step out of the room and ask the clerk about it. He says the stadium down the street causes the shaking, with all the fans stomping up and down in the stands.
Sunday night I had a dream where Jeremy and I go to the mall to catch a movie. We walk past the food court and see Carrie B working there. I make the sign for “j” with my right hand and she smiles and waves back to me. We continue to the movie theater, where Kristie and another woman are working. Kristie had a customer, so Jeremy asked the other woman if Kristie could join us for the movie. She says “No, she’s working until 10:00”. Kristie then starts speaking in Spanish to us. We decide to go back and get something to eat. There is a long line and we are next to the fountain drinks. There are signs for Mountain Dew Pie, Pepsi Pie, etc. A large woman keeps brushing against me and complaining about the wait. She says to me, “She can make a salad with a mouse click”.

The weekend was relaxing and nice. Friday night Andrea came into town and we cruised to a Chinese restaurant for some dinner after seeing The Chalice was too crowded. After filling our bellies, we returned to our apartment and visited for a long time. It felt good to reconnect with Andrea and get up to speed with her life. Thinking back, I can remember the stress of planning a wedding, even when we had the blessing of our sets of parents.
Saturday we visited my grandparents and got a chance to look through some photo albums. They are going through the reduction phase and gave us quite a few pictures to add to our collection. The evolution of my dad’s hair is the best gift anyone could give me. Interesting to see pictures of my grandfather’s grandparents and my mom and aunt’s growing up. Always more scanning to do.
From there we went to see my parents. Dad is in better spirits and nice to see him up and smiling again. Visited for a bit and then headed to Fall Fest in Oshkosh. Got quite a large number of progressive handouts about some very liberal programs and organizations. Refreshing to see that sort of thing on campus. Had a veggie burger and some cheese curds and then made our way to the video store. Rented The Royal Tannenbaums (which was average) and Pleasantville (which was unwatchable, due to tracking problems with the tape. Also caught a talk by Aaron McGruder (cartoonist of The Boondocks) give a talk on C-SPAN about the war on terrorism and how the Democratic Party continually rolls over when they have the opportunity to make positive differences. Also discussed Michael Moore, Nader, Gore, and so forth. We taped it and I highly, highly recommend it to everyone. You can order a copy from their site c-span.org or check the schedule for a re-broadcast. Good stuff.
Sunday was grocery shopping and football. Stupid Packers. I bet Terry that the Panthers would beat them this coming week ($1) and also that the Packers would not make the playoffs ($1). I hope I’m wrong on both accounts, but to give up 31 points to the Detroit Lions is beyond disgusting. So much for preseason predictions, eh?
I too am worried about
mikecheck.
This is long enough.
