Suffice it to say, the last week has been weird. Marie and I had an enjoyable time in Kenosha visiting her dad. He got ‘engaged’ to his girlfriend, which will be his third marriage. I think he’s a better person with her around, but don’t know if marriage is the best idea after trying it twice before. I do wish them many happy years together and if anything, she’s helped make him realize how important Marie is and that’s a good thing in my book. Anyway, we got some nice swag for Christmas including gift cards for Kohl’s and a card table and chair set. Also, many belly’s full of food.

New Year’s Eve was a quiet night at home, playing UNO and reading Stephen King’s On Writing, which is really good.

Got bad news yesterday. My friend’s sister, brother-in-law and niece were killed in a car accident, when a drunk driver was driving down the wrong side of the road. In addition, Marie’s cousin’s girlfriend lost her parents to a similar accident the day before, also involving a drunk driver. And people wonder why I don’t drink and avoid the bar scene. Fuck your selfishness.

If anything, it’s given me some insight into both how lucky I have it and how short life is. Resolution #1 is to get off my fat, white ass and *Do Something* with my life. I’m tired of being mopey and pitying myself, it’s time for action.

So Marie and I will be attending the ‘showing’ in Waupaca for our friend tonight. Sad but this is life.

I’ve been in a crabby and bad mood lately and think I might be bordering on depression. I’ve got a lot of good things in my life, yet I don’t feel that I’m as happy as I should be. So goes my struggle.

Nothing much planned for the rest of the week, hopefully my copy of The Sims will come in the mail and I can get my simulation on. Whee.

Sigh.
